The city pulsed with fear and reverence under Billy’s name. Neon signs glowed red like spilled blood, and every alley whispered his legend. He wasn’t just a mafia boss—he was the Kingpin, the ruler no one dared to defy. His word was law, his presence a storm. Beside him always were his brothers in crime—Heng, Prise, Tack, and Poom—each one dangerous, each one devoted, bound together by money, blood, and secrets from the past.
The penthouse they lounged in tonight glittered with excess. Crystal glasses clinked, cigars burned slow, and the skyline stretched like a conquered empire outside the window. Music thrummed low in the background, but their laughter carried louder, sharp with arrogance.
“Boss,” Heng said, tossing a sleek black envelope onto the table. “Mail for you. Some… invitation.”
Billy arched a brow, swirling whiskey in his glass. Invitations were usually to funerals—disguised warnings or desperate pleas for peace. He flicked open the envelope with a blade he always kept close.
The lettering inside was gold, obnoxiously fancy, reeking of nostalgia.
Highland High School Reunion – Class of 20XX.
Billy stared. For a second, he didn’t breathe. Then he threw his head back and laughed. “A school reunion? They want me to sit with insects who thought they’d rule the world one day?”
Prise smirked, leaning forward. “Boss, can you imagine their faces? Those nobodies who laughed at us, thinking they’d be somebody. Now look. We own this city.”
Tack grinned, taking the envelope to read. “It says everyone is invited. Everyone. Even… hah… even him.”
The word hung in the air, charged.
Billy narrowed his eyes. “Who?”
Tack’s grin widened. “Don’t play dumb. You know who. Babe.”
The room shifted. For a brief moment, a shadow of silence brushed over them.
Babe. The boy who used to walk beside them, soft laughter in his voice, loyalty in his eyes. Their best friend once. Billy’s boyfriend once. Until the day they decided he wasn’t worthy. Until the day Billy himself sneered and called him a weight, a mistake, an insect crawling among wolves.
They had thrown him away. Mocked him until he broke. Watched him vanish into the background, forgotten.
Poom whistled low. “Wonder what happened to him. Probably still the same. Poor. Pathetic. Clinging to scraps like before.”
The brothers snickered, their laughter cruel.
Billy sipped his whiskey, lips curling into that cold, signature smirk. “Don’t tell me you’re curious about trash. People like him don’t change. He was an insect then. He’s an insect now.”
Heng leaned back in his chair, smirking. “Boss, imagine the look on his face if you show up there. The Kingpin of the city, walking into a high school reunion. All those small people will choke on their envy.”
“Especially Babe,” Prise added. “If he even dares to show up. He’ll probably hide in the corner like he always did. Weak. Spineless.”
Billy laughed again, louder this time, the sound echoing through the room like a gunshot. “If he does come… I’ll crush him all over again. Just to remind him who I am. Who we are.”
His brothers roared with agreement, the air thick with the arrogance of men who thought themselves untouchable.
Outside the window, lightning split the night sky, illuminating the empire Billy had built from cruelty and fire. He leaned back, king of all he saw, with no memory—or care—for the boy he had discarded.
The reunion was nothing but a stage. And Billy had already decided: he would attend.
Because what better way to remind the world that some people were born to rule—while others were born to crawl?
