SIRIUS BLACK NEVER took any notice of Evelyn Potter. To him, she'd always been his best friend's little sister—nothing more, nothing less. She was always in the background, watching him and her brother be reckless and loud. Sirius often saw the many glares and short remarks she sent his way, but he never bothered to listen or cared enough to bite back.
But the night he fled Grimmauld Place and found refuge in the Potters' home, he couldn't help but take notice of her when she opened the door. The sincerity in her voice asking him if he was okay, the soft gaze she held on him, and the sudden warm feeling he had in his chest when she pulled him inside were enough to unravel everything he thought he knew about her.
It was that night Sirius Black realised that Evelyn Potter was no longer someone he could ignore, no matter how hard he tried.
