Sulien ran along the tops of buildings, jumping down onto a platform of a lower rooftop and skirting to a halt as he looked over the edge. Down in a mostly lit alley was a small group of teens, talking amongst each other and laughing. Sulien descended from the roof and landed in front of the group.
"Heyyy! You finally decided to show up!"
"Yeah yeah, you owe me. It took a lot of asking to be allowed to be out here tonight."
"Finnee, I'll cover your food, deal?"
"Deal."
The group had planned a night out, including Sulien but course that left him with the task of somehow getting out of his dreaded home. Obviously he managed to get himself out and into the city but not without having a screaming match minutes before and narrowly missing a strike to his stomach, intended to knock the wind out of him. But his friends couldn't know that. No one could know that. The only ones he could share his thoughts and dismay with were his older brothers, the very ones whose shoes he'll have to fill if something went wrong. Everything made Sulien angry, his obligation, his father, the damn scar left on half his face from a punishment that should've been life ending, everything was aggravating. With his group of friends though he felt secure, people who didn't really care besides whatever shenanigans they were getting up to that day and found whatever scars Sulien had to be badass. They also found his military training very enticing as the need to prove how tough they were was common, light roughhousing was their normal as Sulien did have to bare some minor injuries from these trainings which kept him from being able to do a lot when it came to messing around. Anyway his group rushed off to their favorite food place , Sulien following behind them and entertaining their conversation. Gosh was the world outside that wretched castle so different, being born into such a position should be a luxury, something to be grateful for but no, it was hell, but it's all these friends wanted to hear. To have a royal family member among them already fueled the desire to impress or befriend Sulien, to hear of how amazing the castle must be intrigued them as well. Sulien made it allll up until they stopped asking, now the conversations are your typical teenager bullshit. Sometimes it managed to pull laughs out of Sulien but tonight was just off. They all sat down to eat and this conversation had ventured into unknown territory for the young prince, the snickering was more disheartening and the mocking made Sulien feel sick, the worst part is they were talking about someone he knew- or more like constantly hid away from and couldn't even mutter a proper hello to. Sulien shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
"Dude she's just so odd. Her being new here makes it even funnier when we scare her, but she doesn't scream she just gets all freaked out and runs off."
"You're telling me, I haven't even heard her talk to those girls she hangouts with, can she speak? Is she fucking mute? Dramatic slut."
"Tch. I don't know how her father expects her to get anywhere here, she's an annoying bitch, she doesn't talk, tries to be friendly like? Girl you gonna find out the hard way that we don't like outsiders. Don't you agree, Sulien?"
Sulien looked at his friend with an unreadable expression and didn't say anything.
"Oh shit! Dude that's the girl he has a crush on remember?!"
" Oh you're right! My bad man I didn't mean to bad mouth your girl. My fault my fault."
Sulien blinked at him before getting up with his food, hitting the guy in the back of the head and leaving the place. His friends called after him but he kept walking, waving them off. Gods do they get on his last nerve, they talk bad of most of the girls that hang in "their" part of the city, claiming it's cause they like them and they're just being guys but the countless nights of his father bad mouthing his mother was never cause he liked her. No it's just a disgusting thing they have in common. The adrenaline of the play fighting kept his nerves down but this, gods it felt like his heart was in his throat whenever they started to talk ill of people. He needed to get away, he needed to be around anyone else but them when they start doing this, it was a clawing feeling in his chest that wanted to tear out of his ribcage.
