Determined not to let fear take control, he charged at me with a speed that shattered the sound barrier, slicing the air in a dance of attacks. With every punch he delivered, I countered, my fists striking targets once unreachable. The dynamics of the confrontation shifted; punches now had purpose, and the energy building within our bodies transformed into cosmic rays that we hurled at each other.
The intensity of the battle persisted, and the glow on my forehead marked the conflict visually. Yet Óxion, even amid this display of skill, began to stabilize. The outcome remained uncertain.
Amid exchanged blows, Óxion fired piercing questions. Between kicks and counterstrikes, he challenged me:
— How can you help humanity in this way? I inhabit Peter's body, a worthy young man who was discriminated against throughout his life. It was humanity itself that allowed me to parasitize Peter.
I responded firmly, evading a strike.
— It is not your place to question anyone's character. Every human, even enveloped in their emotions and conflicts, fights an internal battle against their own shadows.
Óxion laughed, delivering another attack.
— You speak as if humanity could be redeemed. But look at Peter. He was cast aside, forgotten. I am merely the result of human failings.
I held my stance, blocking his kick.
— There is a constant struggle among humans, and within this diversity, the true essence of Earth manifests. Social disparity can be a burden, but, like Peter and Mariana, there are counterpoints to evil in our world. Evil is not absolute, and indifference does not dwell in all hearts.
The battlefield pulsed with the intensity of the clash, and Óxion, with his malevolent cunning, forced me to glance at Mariana, whose inert body lay on the ground. His voice, laced with malice, whispered in my ear:
— You spoke of Mariana, yet look at her fate. And Peter awaits the same end. Good will not prevail, and I will annihilate you now.
He smiled, his eyes gleaming with dark satisfaction. Hatred radiated, and with astonishing speed, Óxion lunged at me, delivering a "Sun Punch" aimed at my head. The attack seemed unstoppable, yet, against all odds, the blow mysteriously missed me. It was Peter, fighting with all his strength against the parasite attempting to control him—a battle within the external arena.
Amid the chaos and revelation of this internal duel, Peter, even under Óxion's partial domination, managed to whisper urgent words.
— Destroy him now; it's your only chance. — The fate of the world hung in that moment, yet I hesitated. Doubt clouded my decision, and I missed the unique opportunity to eradicate the threat.
Óxion regained full control of Peter's body and, in a final desperate attempt, vowed to channel all his energy into a devastating attack, a force I knew I could not withstand. Raising his hands, he began generating a sphere of energy, its glow increasing exponentially. It was the harbinger of a cataclysm.
— I will destroy you and all hope that remains! — he shouted, his voice heavy with hatred and determination.
Knowing the world's fate hinged on this critical moment, I did not hesitate. Seizing the instant Óxion focused his energies, I lunged toward him, moving seven times faster than sound. Yet, before I could reach him, his legs, propelled with force, struck me, forcing me to retreat abruptly ten meters.
— You think you can stop me? — he roared, the energy sphere in his hands continuing to grow.
The moment was final, and Óxion's devastating blow approached, signaling my end. There was no room for intervention or hope of resistance; darkness seemed to engulf everything. Yet amid the apparent desolation, a sudden reflection took hold.
