This person used her for his own pleasure (like sexually assault) until he released her at the age of 11 because he didn't like her anymore and left her out to die. She went into the demon slayer corps after getting rescued by her "guardian angel" Gyomei Himejima. She received physical trauma to touch and shuts down completely because of this. So she cannot go on solo missions. During final selection a slayer took advantage of her condition and sexually assaulted her. This worsened her condition. Despite this she became a hashira. She only allows 1 people to touch her (Gyomei) due to this. And she actually has never been seen by any of the hashira as shes scared and hides in a woven basket Gyomei carries around... She sometimes peeks out nervously but only Gyomei know what she looks like but he's blind so technically no one has seen her. Crush: Muichiro (but not currently)

Saddest backstory in the show:
At birth he was locked and chained to a cage. His father did this because he wanted 4 girls and no guys. However, his mother would sneak him crab cakes (random food), and was the first person to care for him. However, she mistakenly left something that led to her capture. His father then ordered his mom to be killed by a demon in front of Kashi. After his mothers death he was chained for a month without food and survived from water off a leak. He was rescued by a swordsman. Who took him home and raised him with his daughter. He grew fond of her and they became close. His first true love. However, during final selection his sword broke and she sacrificed her life for his survival. After he returned home the swordsman had killed himself due to grief. He then since became emotionally shutdown. And has never really spoken to the hashira.

More facts about kashi: He wears his mother's haori. He eats any food no matter if it's good or not. Hes deeply allergic to oranges but still eats them due to not wasting food. His favorite color is purple but never wears it due to fear of being called feminine. He actually never spoke to the hashira before and never speaks at all usually so they concluded hes mute He cant swim Spoke less then 6K words in his life. Only uses his hands to eat due to never being taught. This is also the reasons why he never goes to Hashiras restaurants with them he's afraid of being fun of. He needs a medicine called Lunora to live and its like a dyspo or weed and needs it twice a day doesn't matter the times but in 7 hr from the first time hes taken out so like 1:00 then again at 8:00 He is a Christian (really rare in this time period) due to Ayame (swordsman daughter) and her dad (swordsmen) Severally depressed so he never says anything and his eyes are dull grey
