You instinctively stand a bit closer to your brother.
Jake comes rushing from behind the group of Na'vi formed around Lo'ak and puts his hand on his son's arm, "Hey, hey"
"Let's take a look at you." Jake says to Lo'ak, but the boy kept staring at Ao'nung.
"He's fine." Jake announces twice as he looks at the Metkayina, "Just a few scratches."
"Lo'ak!"
You turn your head as you see Neytiri coming towards her son. Behind her was Neteyam and Kiri.
Neytiri looks at her son, "I pray for the strength that I will not pluck the eyeballs out of my youngest son!"
You look around as she says that, feeling like everyone is sort of invading the conversation between the family.
"No," Tonowari says and all eyes go on him, "My son knows better than to take him outside the reef."
You watch as Tonowari puts his large hand on Ao'nung's neck and shoulders and pushes him to kneel in front of the family.
It might not be obvious to others around, but you know that Tonowari is putting pressure in his grip on Ao'nung.
"The blame is his." The chief announces.
No one mutters a sound, until Jake nods and murmurs a "let's go" to his son.
"No." Lo'ak says, "It is not Ao'nung's fault."
You frown at his words.
"This was my idea. Ao'nung tried to talk me out of it."
You looked down at Ao'nung and he looked just as surprised as you felt. You look up at your parents and they are doing another exchange with their glances.
The Sully family starts to leave, Lo'ak mumbles another "Sorry", and Jake looks at Tonowari and says, "I got this."
As they leave behind you, you look back at Ao'nung. Your father grabs his arm and pulls him up, "Is this true?"
"Ao'nung what were you thinking?" Ronal steps in.
Ao'nung looks up and catches your gaze, his eyes seeming apologetic.
You keep his stare for a second and turn around. You start to walk back towards your family's hut. You walk past Neteyam and his parents and catch a bit of their conversation.
"Where were you?"
"Yeah. What happened to keep an eye on your brother?"
You slow down a little bit and look back.
Neteyam kept his eyes on his father, a sad look on his face, "Sorry sir." Was all he said.
You turn your head back towards your path and shake your head.
How was this any of Neteyam's fault?
---
The next morning, the eight of you were sitting by the water, discussing what occurred the night prior.
"I wish I'd been there," Kiri smiles after Lo'ak finished his story, "The ocean blessed you with a gift brother."
You nod. You set your hand on the ground beside you and gently brush the side of it against Neteyam's. He looks down and smirks but doesn't move his hand.
"But the tulkun have just left. You have seen, no tulkun is ever alone." Ao'nung states and looks at you for clarification.
You don't meet his eyes.
"Well this one was." Lo'ak says, "He has a missing fin." He points to his left shoulder.
Your eyes widen and you look at Roxto.
"Paykan." Tsireya whispers and grabs Lo'ak by the arm. She glances at everyone around the group.
"Paykan?" Neteyam leans in towards you and asks.
"Who's Paykan?" Kiri looks at Tsireya.
Roxto speaks up, "A young bull who went rogue. He's an outcast. Alone."
"And he has a missing fin." You shrug as you look at Lo'ak.
"They say he is a killer." Tsireya warns.
Lo'ak shakes his head and starts denying.
Ao'nung interrupts, "He killed Na'vi and other tulkun."
You glance at Tuk, who looks at her big brother.
"Not here," you add, "It happened far to the south."
"No, he is not a killer." Lo'ak insisted.
"Lo'ak," Reya tightened her grip on his hand, "You are lucky to be alive."
"She is right, listen to her." You say.
"I'm telling you guys, he saved my life. He's my friend."
You wrap one of your fingers around Neteyam's and look at him.
"This is going nowhere." Your eyes say.
He shakes his head in understanding and stands up. "My baby bro!" He walks over to his brother and puts his hands on the others shoulders.
"The mighty warrior who faced the killer tulkun and lived to tell about it."
Lo'ak grunts and pushes Neteyam off as he stands up, "You guys aren't listening."
He walks away.
"Lo'ak I'm listening!" Tuk yells.
"Lo'ak come back." Kiri rolls her eyes, "You skxawng."
---
You sit by the water on the shore, your hand brushing through your hair.
Tsireya said she will meet you here to hang out.
You take a deep breath in, savouring the fresh air. The breeze from the ocean gently sways, the waves lightly crashing and getting on the shoreline.
You hear someone approaching behind you and smile as you look back, but the smile stills as you realize it is not Tsireya.
It's Aonung.

A/N
Holaa guys!
I mixed up the events a bit, if you remember the tulkuns haven't arrived yet at that scene, but in this book they did so I played with the wording.
Also, tbh I don't want to follow the events of the film starting from now, so I don't think ill include Kiri's seizure, the death of Ronal's spirit sister, the war and most importantly the death of my baby Netty TvT
The next chapter is going to be... something. f
We finally we get to know what happened with the parents.. maybe. I'm not saying anymore!
