The Winter's Tale : (SHAKESPEAR BIRTHPLACE TRUST)

Act 1:
Leontes had an old friend from childhood called Polxenes, who was the king of Bohemia. Leontes wanted to remember his childhood, so he decided to send a letter to Polxenes to invit him to his kingdom.
And He says in his letter:
Leontes:”hello my old friend I would like to invite you to my kingdom to remember the good old days I hope you accept my invitation”
   A few days later, Polixenes sent a letter in response to        Leontes' request
Polixens :”I would really like to come and remember the good old days I’m grateful to you”
After Polixenes came to the kingdom of Leontes and was amazed by its beauty, equipment, and traditions
   Polixenes decide to return home after nine month in sicily
Leontes:” Polixenes, you can stay longer, as we have not finished our conversation yet “
Polixenes:” I'm sorry, I can't stay any longer my kingdom need me “
When leontes’s wife succeeds in persuading Polixenes to stay
Hermion:” Polixenes, stay longer. I would like to get to know you more. The king’s always tells me about you".
Leontes becomes suspicious that his wife has been unfaithful to him .
He could not bear this and became jealous because his wife was interested in his friend.
  Hate and jealousy blinded Leontes' heart, so he asks his cupbearer Camillo to poison his friend as revenge , rather than do so, Camillo weans Polixenes . The two escape together and leaving Hermione and her beloved son Mammillae’s to face king’s warth .
Act 2:
Because of Leontes ' jealousy of his wife, his heart was tainted with hated and resentment towards his friend. His heart was filled with suspicions towards his wife that she was unfaithful to him . Leontes called the guards to take Hermione to prison after he learned that she was pregnant, so his suspicions about her increased and as punishment he put her in jail. After Hermione was taken to prison, the king decided to visit her to say his last words to her. Hermione did not expect this behavior from the king. She had hope that the king would forgive her by saying...

Hermione: "Lentos, please let me explain to you. Do not let mistrust and jealousy blind your heart Did you really ever think that I was unfaithful to you? I am your wife. We pledged trust, but you broke this promise. All that matters is that I fulfilled my duty of hospitality.  "
Leontes : "My decision is inevitable , cannot cancel this decision because I cannot deny what I see"
After that conversation Paulina, Harmon's close friend, came to see her and check up on her
The guards opened the cell door for Paulina, and when Hermione saw the cell door open, it occurred to her that the king had returned to take her out.
Hermion : "Paulina!"
Polina : "Yes, my queen, it's me, Just wanted to check up on you"
Hermion : You believe me, right? I mean I didn't do anything wrong"
Polina : " yes I know but the king doesn’t know "
Hermion : "paulina I thing its time "
          In captivity she give birth to her baby girl.
Paulina : "My king can I come in "
Leontes : "yes"
Paulina : " my king congratulations this is your daughter Perdita Look how beautiful she is, I think she looks like you "
Leontes: "She is not my daughter and I am not ready to accept her or take care of her"
Paulina : "but……."
     Leontes says in an angry tone:
Leontes : " Do you hear what I'm saying? I don't want to. I even hear about this baby when I say she's not my daughter. Paulina interrupts my words. If you tell me about this matter again, I promise you that I will end the lives of you and your family. I would also be pleased to kill you in cold blood……  Antilogous Take this baby from your wife and put her in exile”
Antiongus :" yes …….. Your Majesty  "
Act 3:
Weak from her childbearing, Where Hermione's innocence was proven by a letter from the oracle In his letter, he acknowledged that Hermione was innocent of all Leontes' charges, and more than that, the letter confirmed that the child carried the king's blood. After this ruling, surprising news arrives that shakes the entire kingdom: Mamilius has died of extreme distress at his Mothers's arrest
Hermione heard the news of her son's death She said in a voice full of regret , anger and sorrow :
Hermione: "He killed my child .... How do you feel now, Leontes? Are you relieved now? Your suspicious, Your jealousy have torn this family apart Because of you I lost my only son and you took my daughter away from me I will never forgive you for your actions, Leontes, and your injustice towards me. I hope one day you will pay for your mistakes".....
Hermione was breathing her last breaths while blaming her husband for the death of her son. she died after talking to the king in Paulina's arms. Paulina told the king and everyone in the kingdom about Hermione's death. The days came when Leontes regretted what he had caused his family and what he had done to them.
Leontes :  "Do I deserve this! Hermione was right. The days that Hermione mentioned before her death came. How anger, hated and jealousy filled my heart and blinded my eyes to the truth. "
The kingdom was plunged into the king's sorrow and remorse. After a few days, Antigonus has a dream in which he sees Hermione asking him to leave her child on the beach in Bohemia.
Antigonus:" What is this strange dream? How can the queen come to my dreams? Should I do what she asked me to do? If I don’t, she might curse me or take revenge on me because I took the child. What should I do?"
Finally, Antigonus decided to fulfill Hermione's request, fearing for his own safety .After he put the child on the beach and while he was returning to the kingdom, a big bear ate him and thus Antigonus met his death. Then it happened that there was a shepherd walking with his son and they heard crying and screaming, so they went to look for the source of this sound and were shocked to find a little girl on the beach. The shepherd took her home with him, afraid for her from the predatory animals.
Act4:
At the beginning of act 4, time plays an important role as it is embodied in the form of a character. Sixteen years have passed since Bridita’s exile. Since this period, Leontes is still drowning in the regret of losing his family. As a result of this regret, the king’s power has declined and his kingdom has weakened. Sicily lived in total darkness for sixteen years. Unlike Bohemia, anger did not prevail, but remained the same. King Polixenes lived a life of luxury even after he left Hermione, in the shadow of Leontes’ suspicions. But Camillo never felt free or luxurious, but rather he longed for home. He felt that he did not belong here, but rather his place was in Sicily:
Camillo :" King Polixenes, thank you for hosting me all these years and protecting me from the wrath of King Leontes, but I have a request of you... Can I return home to my family and friends? Since I came here, I feel that I do not belong here. I have been your right hand since I fled the kingdom, so please allow me to leave. "

Polixenes : "What do you think you're doing? Did you think I'd let you go and go back to Sicily? Did you ever think that the king is still looking for you because you betrayed him and didn't carry out his orders? Camillo, you saved my life. I won't leave you and you'll never return home. Bohemia has been your place for years, so no matter how much you tell me to change my mind, you won't risk your life. Camillo, I command you to obey my orders and don't make me kill you. Did you hear me? How can I know that you won't be able to betray me or stab me in the back?
Camillo:" Sir, are you serious? I have been loyal to you. How can you doubt my loyalty now? I am your right hand and you are the one who decides what I do and whatever you say, I am at your command and I promise you that this request will not be repeated or opened. "
After Camillo leaves the king, Prince Florizel enters to his father, the king, and tells him that he has fallen in love with a girl :
Florizel :" Father i have to tell you somthing When I was swimming in the lake, my legs cramped and I felt like I was drowning. I started screaming when I saw a girl jumping into the lake and starting swimming towards me to save me. After that, she asked me if I was okay. I was focused on her facial features. She was white as snow and her hair was black as night. To this moment, I have not forgotten her features, so I started looking for her everywhere. Then we met. This coincidence was the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. I told her about the feelings I have for her and she reciprocated the same feeling. I forgot to ask her name and her father. She is the shepherd's daughter... Father, I love this girl and I want to marry her. "
Not only did Florizel tell his father about this relationship, but perdita also told her father about this relationship and its seriousness.
Perdita:" Father, I know that you are not my real father, but that does not prevent you from taking care of me all these years and bearing my upbringing even though your living conditions are harsh, so you and my brother have the right to be afraid for me, but father, I really love Florizel and I cannot abandon him. I know that he is the prince, that is, he is the future ruler, and I am a poor girl from the common people, and the prince has qualities that no one else has, so he does not care about the social station, so I want to complete my life with him. Do not worry, I will not leave you and my brother here, but you will come with us."
The Shephred : "Do whatever you want, my daughter. I have blind trust in you and I know that no matter what I say, you will obey me. So I ask you to complete your life with the person you love. "
Florizel went to his father and told him that he would set a date for his engagement to Bridita, but what happened surprised the prince.
Polixenes :" I am not accepting such a relationship since you told me that she is the daughter of a shepherd. Are you serious? This girl is not worthy of the royal family. She is a commoner and you deserve to marry a princess. I order you to leave this girl. She only covets money and the title of prince’s wife. I order you to erase this idea from your mind, or you will bear the punishment for disobeying me. Is that clear? "
Florizl :"Enough, I won't let you say anything bad about her. Bridita is not that kind of girl, and I don't care about class. I love her and I won't abandon her, no matter what you say or how you punish me. I won't change my mind. Just so you know, I didn't come to ask your permission, but I came to tell you. I hope you stand with me in my engagement, and if you don't come, Bridita's father will stand with me. I have no problem with that."
Polixenes did not take his son's words seriously. After getting the approval from Bridita's father, Florizel renewed the engagement date and two days later the engagement party began. It was held in a beautiful forest, bright with lights, laughter and music. It was crowded with people. The engagement took place in the morning and in the evening it turned into a dancing party. But unfortunately, this night did not end well, as news came to the king that his son was engaged to the shepherd's daughter. The king became angry and could not bear his son's disobedience to him, so he called Camillo and they disguised themselves and went to the party in disguise. The king and Camillo entered in the middle of the crowd and saw the shepherd, his son, the prince, and Bridita happy, but he did not want to let them celebrate so the king and Camillo took off their disguises.
Florizel :" Dad..Camilo what are you doing here and what are these clothes"
Then the music stopped, everyone stopped dancing, and silence spread throughout the place, as they were in a state of astonishment.
Polixenes : " I can't believe you disobeyed my orders. Didn't I tell you not to marry this poor girl? I won't allow this scandal. She doesn't even know royal customs. And you, Flores, will never get away with what you did. You will be held accountable and deprived of the royal throne. You don't even have the right to defend yourself. "
Polixenes threatened everyone present at the party, especially the shepherd and perdita
Shepherd :" Your Majesty, the children love each other. Don't worry, my daughter will never embarrass the royal family."
Perdita:" Your Majesty, I really love your son, so please don't punish him. Classism is not a good thing. Don't worry, I won't be a burden to you. I know that your son loves me and loves you too, so he is silent now out of respect for you."
The king shouted angrily
Polixenes : "Silence, I don't care about your ridiculous love. Are you going to teach me how to deal with my son and my kingdom? Are you giving me a lesson in morals? I really don't want to hear your voice. You are the one who brought us to this point. You, your father, and your brother are nothing to me. If you don't keep your daughter away from my son, shepherd, I swear to you that you will not see your children when you wake up. I will burn your house and banish you from the kingdom. You will never see your children again. As for you, Bridita, if you don't want me to punish you for what the prince did, you will stay away from him and forget him. I also want you to leave here. I almost forgot for the sake of my son. We were just friends, and this is the last meeting between you. Is my speech clear? As for you, my son, if you go against my orders this time, I swear to you that you will lose the girl and her family, so don't force me to do this."
The play ended with this sad scene, as class was the reason for the severing of this relationship. After this moment, the prince knew nothing about Perdita, and she did not know anything about him. They continued their lives as if they had never met.
Could time play an important role in making them forget each other? What if Polixenes knew that Perdita was the daughter of Leontes and Hermione? Would his view of her change, and would he allow his son to marry her to ease his conscience?
