The first day of college arrives with a sunny glare and long shadows that make everyone look like they're auditioning for a role in a soap opera. The campus smells like a mix of fresh starts and overpriced coffee. Students shuffle through ivy-clad halls, trying to look like they know where they're going while secretly Googling how to find their next class. Faces show a mix of hope, excitement, and the fear of accidentally attending a lecture in their pajamas. Amidst the chatter and awkward introductions, the day feels like a blank page, just waiting for some wild stories and maybe a few embarrassing moments.
As the bell rang to signal the start of the class, the teacher walked in with a warm, welcoming smile. "Good morning, everyone! I’m Professor Martinez, and I’m thrilled to embark on this journey with you all. First day of college exciting ain't it? To kick things off, I'd like each of you to introduce yourselves. ”
Pointing towards a student and " Alex, right? 5 mins ago we met in the corridors don't you remember"" Giggles and continued "why don’t you come up and start us off?"
Alex stood up, feeling a bit nervous, and began with a practiced line. “Hi, I’m Alex. This is my first day here, and I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. How about you?”
Professor Martinez chuckled softly and shook her head. “Oh, Alex, that’s a classic intro, but let’s try something a bit more engaging. Instead of sticking with the obvious, let’s shake things up! ” After a moment of silence "I’m going to pair you all up, and I want you to get to know each other through a fun conversation. Think of it as a chance to explore not just who you are, but who your classmates might be. Ready to dive in?”
The students exchanged curious glances as the professor began assigning pairs, each duo brimming with anticipation for the new approach to their introductions.
As the classroom buzzed with anticipation, the teacher set the scene for an unconventional icebreaker. The boy and girl, newly paired, exchanged glances, each sizing up the new dynamic.
Nearby, Alex took a deep breath and stepped forward, addressing Jamie with a rehearsed line. “Hi! I’m Alex. This is my first day here, and I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. How about you?”
Jamie, nodding, responded, “Hey, I’m Jamie. Same here—excited but a bit anxious. What are you studying?”
The boy, observing from his seat, leaned toward the girl and whispered, “That’s exactly what he said to the whole class.”
The girl listened as Jamie replied, “I’m thinking of going into Environmental Science. I’ve always been passionate about nature and sustainability.”
The boy then murmured, “How boring.”
The girl, curious and slightly amused, turned to him and asked softly, “So, do you have something to say? Something... exciting?”
With a playful glint in his eye, the boy met her gaze and replied, “A lot.”
The boy turned to the girl with a mischievous grin. “You want to hear something wild? I ended up at this college because of a mix-up with a flight booking. I was supposed to visit my cousin in California, but somehow ended up at the wrong airport and on a plane to this town instead. Long story short, I thought it was a sign and decided to enroll. My parents are still convinced I’m just ‘visiting’ for now!”
The girl’s eyes widened in surprise. “No way! That’s like a sitcom plot.”
The boy chuckled. “ I pretend you didn't say that. That was supposed to be a joke".
The girl replied with " So should i laugh?"
He said himself. " You embarrassment "
The boy raised an eyebrow and asked, “So, how did you end up here?”
