When you had first stepped foot on the other side of the magical bridge, not all had been good. But through the months of Mal's developing relationship with Ben and the many changes made to Auradon, everything had become bearable.
But that was all to a point. And you liked points.
Your mother, the Queen of Hearts, was a cruel woman. Uncaring for her only daughter, and gifted with a sharp tongue you had come to despise. But you had also inherited that trait, and the longer you stayed at Auradon, the more you suppressed it.
You were not an Auradon kid by any means, no matter how many times Evie tried to tell you that you were. And you were going to hold onto your Isle heritage until it killed you.
Most of the Auradon kids were still scared of the VKs, including yourself, and there was still some discrimination from Audrey and Chad. However, you weren't really bothered by them. You were more so bothered by the constant snickering, the whispers in the hallways, and the quiet knowing looks you got from your friends as you refused to change.
What bothered you more than even that, though, was how you were being left alone more and more as Evie fell for Doug and Mal fell for Ben.
Carlos and Jay were always practicing or playing video games twenty-four seven. So, no one ever had time for you. Which was okay, you tried to tell yourself. You were still close with all of them anyway.
Currently, you were sitting in Jay's room watching him and Carlos reprogram the 3D printer. "I don't understand why it's not working!" Carlos said, burying his hands in his hair.
"Personally, I don't know why you care so much," you commented while filing your nails. Soft scratching noises and dust filled the air.
"Because we need it!" Jay and Carlos yelled at the same time. You rolled your eyes and scoffed.
"Yeah, yeah. For the wand," you said without a care. In reality, you did care. But your mother had always taught you to never show it. As much as you had tried to, you just couldn't let it go. The tough exterior clung to you like a second skin. Trained into you. Softness taken from you a long time ago that you would never get back.

You had grown in other ways, though. Your personality was still fiery and flirty, but you were told how kind you were even at the start. Everyone had been surprised whenever you mentioned your mother. They didn't think you were much like her aside from looks. You didn't have her temper or her power complex. You were beautiful, and even though you meant to be sharp, it came across as attentive.
You just wanted to live your own life, independently. Which ended you in this situation, of course.
Your friends would always be there for you, and you for them, but you really didn't understand the whole concept of 'love'. Yes, you loved them. But how could Mal do all of that in the name of something you couldn't even see?
Other things helped you pass your time, like croquet and cards. You played poker often with the Auradon kids. Some even sat with you at lunch as you dealt a few hands. Croquet was also a well-liked game by the royal court.
You always won. Without fail. Mal even joked sometimes that you made her look bad in front of Ben and his family.
You also helped your best friend, Evie, with her designs. When you were riled up, you were so good at cutting the fabric evenly that she praised you for it. But she and Doug ran her business as the perfect duo, and you largely stepped away from your assistant-to-Evie role due to that.
