The shaking finally subsided, leaving a heavy silence in the chamber. Dust floated in the air, dancing in the beam of their helmet lights. The creature-tall and still-seemed to wait, observing them not with hostility, but with something else. Anticipation.
Naomi's voice cut through the silence. "Captain... I'm detecting a signal. Low frequency. It's not coming from this building-it's coming from the planet's core."
Elias narrowed his eyes. "A distress beacon?"
"No. A pulse. Like... like it's calling to something."
Dr. Lin's face went pale. "What if it's not calling out... but *calling back? What if something is answering?"
Suddenly, the walls around them shimmered faintly. A symbol appeared-etched in light across the room-three interlocking rings with a jagged line slicing through them.
The creature stepped forward. "You have awakened the Resonance. If it reaches full strength, the seal below will shatter. And what was buried here will rise again."
Naomi swallowed. "Then we need to shut the signal down. Now."
"There is only one way," the creature said. "A chamber beneath this tower. A machine designed to suppress the pulse. But it requires a living interface."
Elias frowned. "What kind of interface?"
The creature turned its gaze to Naomi. "One who has touched the black box."
Naomi froze. Her hand, still trembling, reached toward her wrist console. The screen showed the symbol again-those three rings, now glowing steadily.
"It's bonded to me," she whispered.
"We don't have time to debate," Elias said. "Take us to the chamber."
Outside, beneath the surface of Proxima B, something ancient stirred-its awareness slowly returning.
