"Accidentally Yours" — Part 1: The Switch

The wedding was never meant to be hers.

Ishita sat quietly on the grand bed, her lehenga too heavy, her hands trembling ever so slightly under the weight of bridal bangles that weren’t meant for her. The scent of roses and sandalwood filled the room, but all she could feel was the hollow ache in her chest.

She hadn’t even seen Veer properly during the wedding. Everything had happened so fast. One scandal, one disappearance, one desperate family — and suddenly, she was married to a man she barely knew. All because her sister, the original bride, had run away.

The door creaked open. Ishita flinched.

Veer Singh Rathore entered, tall and composed, with a sharpness in his eyes that made the air around him colder. He didn’t speak. Just stood there for a moment, looking at her like she was a problem he didn’t sign up for.

“You don't have to pretend,” he said at last, voice calm but distant. “We both know this wasn’t your idea.”

Ishita opened her mouth, then closed it. Her voice wouldn’t come out. Not yet. So she simply nodded.

Veer sighed. “Look, I don’t know you. And frankly, I don’t want to. I had... different expectations for tonight.”

A tear slipped down her cheek before she could stop it. She quickly wiped it away and whispered, “I’m sorry. I didn’t want this either.”

For a second, something flickered in his expression — surprise, maybe even guilt. But it vanished quickly.

“I’ll sleep on the couch,” he said, already pulling a pillow off the bed. “Let’s just get through this mess. Without drama.”

Ishita gave a small nod, her fingers clutching the edge of the blanket like it was her only anchor. She didn’t fight, didn’t question — just quietly accepted the beginning of a life she never chose.

And in that silence, two strangers lay worlds apart… with no idea that the quietest girl in the room was going to change everything.
