Kitsune was on her way home from the beach, probably her favorite place in the sleepy little town known as Dreamland. Or at least, it's sleepy now, what with the final hit dealt to Nightmare and his army of monsters. Life has been peaceful for the past couple months, just as it always been before Kirby appeared.
The town was officially rebuilt, King Dedede was actually making an effort to be nicer -with occasional slip-ups- and Meta Knight had been reunited with his long-lost sister, Tourmaline. Someone that most people in the town had no idea existed until that point.
All in all, it was looking to be another normal, beautiful day in Dreamland.
"Woah-!"
"Eh-?"
Thump.
Yep. Perfectly normal.
Kitsune hit the dirt path with a thud, groaning as the weight of another person laid on top of her. She pushed herself back up into a sitting position, rubbing her head. "Ow... What the hell-"
She gasped as she looked down at her lap. She saw an unfamiliar man, blacked out. Most likely from the crash, she figured. She looked around, trying to spot anywhere he could've come from. There weren't any trees this far away from town, at least not in this direction.
The man was taller than her, and by quite a bit. He had what must've been shoulder length hair, which pointed this way and that. He had noticeable bags under his eyes, indicating quite the lack of sleep. Her mother would definitely have some words about that, most likely about "early on-set wrinkles and an eventual lead to poor health." He was dressed pretty fancy, red dress shirt, white gloves, black vest, dress pants, and shoes.
Kitsune exhaled, struggling to stand without dropping him and making him hit his head on the ground. They had a doctor in town, yes, but frankly she didn't know how much she'd trust him with a human. Humans and Popstarians were similar in lots of ways, yes, but Doctor Yabui didn't know that. The last thing she needed right now was for this poor soul to get a concussion in an unfamiliar place, especially since she herself didn't have much in terms of medical knowledge.
She sure as hell had plenty in true crime though, thanks to a certain roommate of hers from way back when.
No matter, she'd handle this herself. She could pull that off at least. With a grunt, she carried him a little further up the path and rested under a large shady oak tree. His head rested carefully on her lap as she sat delicately on her legs. All she had to do now was wait for him to wake up.

Jesse awoke about ten minutes later, slowly blinking his eyes open to an unfamiliar face looking down at him. Even in his dreary state he could recognize her expression shifting from confusion to surprise to relief. She was very fair skinned, with long auburn hair and shining amber eyes. Above her looked to be the leaves of a tree, which he figured she must've took them.
"Oh, thank Nova you're okay! You had quite the fall, y'know."
'Nova?'
"I... I did, huh? Must've fallen off a cliff, then..." Jesse sat up, looking around. This... Definitely wasn't the Forest. It was too clear. Too sunny. Too peaceful.
What's more, the woman he woke up on seemed too... friendly.
"Um... Where is this?"
"Oh- you're on Planet Popstar! Welcome. My name is Kitsune, I'm something of an unofficial princess here. I don't really have much status, buuuut I live in a castle, and even the king agrees that counts for somethin'!" The woman -Kitsune- explained.
