Prologue: Graduation

Graduation Day (2017)

Finally graduation day. My friend, Rachelle, and I finally did it. All the sleepless nights and late night reviews were worth it. After listening to our class representative I saw my friend's college sweetheart hold her hand and whisper something. I wish I had someone like that.

I elbowed Rachelle. " Grabe! (Tagalog expression for wow) you're both so sweet like honey."

Rachelle pushed me lightly, blushing. " You ha!"

"Right?? " I noticed him still holding her hand. "See! He is still holding your hand and you have not let go yet."

The class of STI Las Pinas 2016 was introduced and we all tossed our hats and did our class dance presentation for our family and friends.

I said good-bye to a few batch mates and started walking towards Rachelle, trying not to interrupt anything. Not paying attention to where I was going I ran into a hard chest. I looked up to lock eyes with who I ran into. I smiled shyly, muttering 'Sorry' and hurried towards Rachelle. He's cute.

I snapped Rachelle out of her trance by lightly pushing her. "Hey! are you ok? "

Rachelle grinned slyly. "Vester told me to meet him at our usual spot in the garden after greeting our family."

I made an 'o' face. " I wonder what that is. Anyway both our families are going to eat out after this."

Since Rache was had Vester on her mind, I didn't tell her about my run in. I met with our families, since our families are close. Rachelle soon left to meet Vester. I hope it goes well, she said she would call me to go get her. Time passed and the school was closing soon. Rachelle hadn't called me.

I decided to go find her still waiting for him. I approached her and hugged her from behind. "Sis? Are you ok?"

Rachelle shook her head. "He didn't show."

I hugged her tight. "Let us go Sis we still have our celebration dinner with our family."

Holding her, I could feel that he heart was breaking. All I could do was to be there.

At dinner her dad made the announcement of them moving to California, USA. Of course I wasn't surprised. Rachelle had told me earlier. She hugged me. I am going to miss her, my best friend. This might be good for her though.

Before they left, I went to sleep over and hang out with Rachelle. "Sis, I think this is best for you. I will miss you so much, but I know that this will help you heal that heart of yours." I gave her a hug. " I pray that you will find a best friend like me there so that you won't get too lonely, but don't forget to call me from time to time." Tears flooded my eyes.

Tearing up, Rachell smiled. " I promise I will introduce you to her so that we can be a trio and of course I can never forget you. You are like a sister to me."

The next day Rachelle and her family had to leave early to the airport. We said our goodbyes. I will miss Rachelle so much, but I know I still will be able to contact her. I know it isn't good bye.

"Paalam Ateh (Goodbye Sis)." I whispered.
