From Your Shadow

Dear Reader,

When I see you all alone, my face glows with excite
In your sorrows, somehow, I feel my delight
Cause when there is no one around you, I can hold you tight
And calm you from all the pain and all the fight

But you forget me as soon as your day turns bright
I hold every darkness of you, yet it breaks me when you see me with fright
I carry the weight of all your unseen plight
And run along with you, hoping to catch your sight

I'll always be there for you, whether it's day or night
When you do something wrong or something right
Whether it's darkness or whether it's light
Even when this whole world sees you with despite

But yes, it's true, I'll never grab the attention of your sight
Because you won't see me in the darkness and you'll ignore me in the light
And when you find someone to accompany you through the night,
You won't hear me, nor will I find the courage to recite.

So, I am trying to identify my existence,
For in your life, I hold no purpose, nor your invite.
Perhaps you'll notice me when I'm gone,
And I'll try to leave you behind, if I might
