Chapter Twenty Seven, Blood Brothers

"Daphne." Alika groans. "Welcome to the party." The other titan says grinning. "Let's have introductions, I am Hyperion, that's my brother Iapetus, that no-longer pretty one in Daphne Cassiopeia Delos and now it's your turn." Alika glares at them.

"I am Alika and this is Adonis." The titans grin. 

Together Alika and Adonis draw swords, "Well I guess the party is over." Growls Alika. They charge together.

Then Alika veers off towards me. He cuts through the chains and gives me a quick kiss before picking me up. Adonis fighting both titans at once let's us escape to the doorway. Alika is about to run out with me when Adonis screams in pain. 

He's bleeding. Alika places me on ground and runs back to help Adonis. I can't move, I can't heal myself this close to the portal. 

I can only watch as Alika and Adonis fight the titans. Alika screams, he's bleeding too. This sucks.

Iapetus is dueling Adonis and Hyperion is dueling Alika. They are holding their own against the titans, but for how long?

I can't talk but I'm obviously far enough from the portal that I've started healing. I can move my fingers and toes but I can't move anywhere.

I can't let our blood mix, I can't. The giants won't rise. Did my Mother go through this? Did she feel this way when Ares was fighting Orion and Dad? I wish she was here.

Wait. Scratch that, she wouldn't have her powers so she would be pretty much useless. I wish Lucas or Orion was here though. I wish Cassandra could see where we are. I wish we had never involved Joseph and Ivy with us, so they would be safe right now.

I wish, I wish, I wish.

There is no point in wishing for things that won't happen. 

I watch as the titans slowly start to over take them, what can I do?

I haul my battered and failing body up and throw myself between Alika and Hyperion. A sharp pain across my face, Hyperion's sword sliced across my face. I fall back against Alika, my blood soaking his shirt.

Our blood mixes.

A rumble of thunder passes over.

That's two. One more and we will be Blood brothers.

I watch as our blood soaks the ground. I can see a shape forming under the surface of the Earth, it's a giant. 

I have to keep Alika and myself away from Adonis. 

I can't let Adonis die.

Oh bloody hell, this is an impossible situation. Best case scenario we all live and get away. Worst case scenario we die and the giants rise.

Alika pulls me up, I pull the knife from my boot and hurl it at Hyperion. It slices through his chest. Hyperion dissolves. Only Iapetus left.

I don't get it, why did Hyperion die so easily? It shouldn't have been that easy.

Adonis cries out and Alika and I turn towards him. Together we hurry to his side, just as Iapetus slashes him across the chest. Splattering us with his blood, our blood mixes together. All three of our blood. It drips to the ground.

Another rumble of thunder and I cry out and look down at the giant below me. Adonis fell and I grab his sword, I slice off Iapetus's head. Now this I'm sure really killed him, for now. Until he returns from the Underworld. 

"HA, thank you!" I spin around and collapse against Alika. Hyperion didn't die. CRAP.

"You have started the rise of the giants and the end of your puny race of mortals." Hyperion is grinning. I want to punch his big stupid face. 

Alika, Adonis and I heave ourselves up and hurl our messed up, beat up and bloody bodies at the titan. We are fighting like we've never fought before.

I have a small dagger while the others have swords, then I have an idea. 

I give Alika a wink and collapse to the ground. I hear Adonis cry out, I lie listening on the ground. Waiting for the right moment.

Alika and Adonis are in trouble and I realize how much of the fighting I had been doing. Then it happens. Hyperion stands over me and I'm up in a second.

I throw myself against him, I grab one of his arms as it comes down and pull myself up onto his shoulders. 

Hyperion screams and tries to pull me off, I stab him in the shoulder.

Hyperion howls, "YOU PUNY MORTAL! I WILL KILL YOU ALL!" I grin and continue stabbing his shoulders.

Alika and Adonis continue to attack Hyperion and together we splatter the ground with ichor, immortal's blood. I dunno what will happen now but we have to get rid of Hyperion.

"Daphne!" Alika throws me his sword and I throw him my dagger.

With one swift motion, I cut off Hyperion's head and plummet to the ground. 

This time he's gone for good.

Well for now.

Alika awkwardly catches me and we both hit the ground. I hold tight to Alika, I never want to let him go. 

Just then the ground rumbles and the giant under us starts to rise.
