Another day of doing his incredibly tedious job passes by. 'Finally finished, these days feel longer now. Why did I get forced onto doing this?' The gatekeeper exclaimed as he let the final soul of the day into their eternal afterlife. He closed the gates and looked around, seemingly curious as to why his father, the ruler of this realm, warned him never to step out of the boundaries. 'I'm old enough now, I don't need to listen to him,' thought the boy, 'I want to explore, besides, he's never home to even notice me.' Making up his mind, he seemingly floats away from the now locked up gate and heads to his house. A few minutes later, the door locks with a click, the boy cheerfully goes away from his house, gear in hand. His mind set on finding out just what underworld is. Reaching a boarded off fence, he climbs over it and finds a sign, 'Καλώς ήρθατε στον κάτω κόσμο, προχωρήστε με προσοχή.' ('Welcome to the underworld, proceed with caution')
Underneath the sign, a note, dirty, burnt and ripped seems to stand out. The boy picks it up and attempts to read it. 'Αυτό το μέρος είναι ένας όμορφος εφιάλτης. Μην αφήσετε το σημάδι να σας αποσπάσει την προσοχή, αν σας πιάσουν, το παιχνίδι τελείωσε. Καλή τύχη -Άδης.' ("This place is a beautiful nightmare. Don't let the sign distract you, if you get caught, it's game over. Good luck -Hades.")
'Huh, my father put that letter there, did he explore this realm and find something or is he lying?' the boy looks out at the foggy abyss, 'This has made me even more curious now, time to ex-' A yawn breaks his train of thought. 'I guess i will explore tomorrow.'
The curious gatekeeper decides to set up camp for the night and with no other thought, reies to fall asleep in his makeshift sleeping bag ready for whatever adventures await.
Dreams of what the underworld will bring fill his head which only makes him more excited and restless.
Eventually, he falls asleep. The rest will be needed if his adventure is to be successful.
