The man looked at the two cradles. He was disheartened. Although his face was handsome, it wore a glum expression. His black hair was messed and his face was wet with sweat.

'Which child does it mean?' he asked, looking across the room to a woman with flaming red hair.

'The prophecy referred to a boy, Sirius,' she said quietly, 'It means Harry.' Misery filled her voice.

'Then,' Sirius said, 'Why do you want me to protect Serria?' She burst into loud sobs.

'When he wants someone dead, no one can stop him forever,' she tried wiping her eyes, 'I am trying my best, but you can't stop fate. If-'

'You can,' he interrupted, 'If you do what is best. You have to use Wormtail as the secret keeper, Lily. Vold-'

The woman called Lily winced. 'Do you have to use his name?'

'Voldemort,' Sirius said firmly, 'Will never suspect him. He probably expects me to be the secret keeper.' She looked at him doubtfully.

'I don't know, Sirius...' she said, 'It's logical, sure... but can we really trust Wormtail with something like this? After all he is rather...'

'It's a perfect plan. Voldemort will come after me and Wormtail will keep the secret with no risk.' Lily winced again at the name.

'Are you-' she began. At that moment the door opened.

'I'm sorry, I'm late,' a man said grimly, walking into the room. 'What have I missed?'

'Sirius wants to change the secret keeper to Wormtail. And he is going to hide Serria.'

'You know,' he said, 'That's a good idea, Sirius. We should talk to Wormtail soon.'

'But Sirius,' Lily looked at him, 'where will you take my daughter? You need to go into hiding.'

'A muggle orphanage,' Sirius said, 'She'll be safe there.'

'James,' she turned around to look at the other man, 'Do you think it's a good...'

'Muggles are perfect people to leave our daughter with,' James said, 'She'll be far from the treachery in our world.'

'Don't worry, Lily,' Sirius said, 'I'll leave her a letter, all about her and we'll give her,' he dug into his pocket and brought out some parchment, 'The Marauders map.' Lily nodded.

'And this,' she added taking off her locket, 'Give her this.' He took the chain and placed it deep in his pocket. She gently leaned over the second cradle and lifted out a small nine month old girl with short red hair. 'Serria Lily Potter,' Lily whispered giving her baby a gentle kiss, 'Stay safe, strong and smart. And never forget... we love you more than the world.' She placed the baby in Sirius' arms.

'Sirius,' James said softly, 'Look after your goddaughter, for us.'

'I will,' Sirius said tears filling his grey eyes, 'I promise.'
