Forever Lost; Klaus Baudelaire

REPTILE ROOM

*AN: Takes place after the Baudalaire fire. Y/N is Montys adopted daughter. Dosent closely follow the show. Fast paced and semi poorly written with mature themes*

Third person POV

For as long as she could remember, Y/n had always had a passionate love for reptiles. From geckos, to mountain horned dragons, all and any creature with scales had a place in her heart. Which is why when she was adopted by Montgomery Montgomery at the age of 9, she was overjoyed to discover his whole life had been devoted to studying and caring for these lovely creatures.

She now was 16, with her birthday being two weeks prior. Monty had sat her down in the reptile room to talk to her.

First Person POV

I had been playing with the screeching iguana most of the day, when dad called me down to the reptile room. I put the iguana on my shoulder and waltzed down the stairs and entered the giant greenhouse. Dad was sitting on the couch with a somber look, which is not often seen on his face.

"Y/n." he said. "Come sit with me. I have something to discuss with you."

I sat down next to him, nervous about what was to come.

"Y/n, some of my old friends have passed away."

"Oh. Im so sorry dad. What happened to them?"

"They perished in a terrible fire. But fortunetly, their three children survived the fire. Violet, the oldest, and sunny the baby, and Klaus, hes around youre age I believe. They have been entrusted in my care, as they have no where else to go."

"Oh my, thats simply terrible. I Hope they can all feel welcomed here."

Weeks passed before the Baudalires finally arrived. With a knock on the door, Dad and I rushed down the stairs tp greet our new housemates. Four people entered, a Tall, older man, a girl around my height, a younger toddler, and lastly, a cute boy around my age, wearing glasses and a vest. 

"Hello" Dad and i spoke at the same time.

"Hello, my name is Mr. Poe. I must leave urgently, i was just here to drop the children off, I have to be back before banking hours."

While dad and Mr. Poe talked i decided to try to speak to the Baudalaires. "Hi, my name is Y/n. You must be Violet Klaus and Sunny."

Klaus looked at my but didnt speak. his face was a little red with blush when i made eye contact.

"Hello Y/n, thank you for your hospitality, i hope we can be friends" Violet spoke.

"We already are" I replied.

Dad cut into our mini conversation offering cake.

"Sunny actually prefers hard food." Klaus finally spoke. His voice was soft, but firm.

"Ah, well that is rather unusual for a baby, but not uncommon for many reptiles." Dad pulled out a carrot and handed it to sunny, who babbled a thanks.

Later in the day

...................

Violet Klaus Sunny and i were sitting in the reptile room while dad was making dinner. I was letting them hold all my favorite animals we had. "This is a western hognose snake. They have a very mild venom but they are very docile" I said as i handed Klaus the Three foot long snake. "wow, he is very beautiful."

The baudalaires and i had grown rather close in the short ammount of time we spent together. We talked abput anything we could think of and i showed them all around the house. Im tyring to be as welcoming as I can, after all theyve been through. I cant imagine what its like to lose a parent. My parents gave me up when I was born. I Never even met them. I hope i never lose dad.

Klaus handed the snake back to me and our hands brushed. We both blush at this as I put the snake back in its enclosure. I feel like i get butterflies in my stomach every time i look at Klaus. Its a confusing feeling, and one that im worried about unpaking.

"Dinner is ready!" Dad called. The four of us left the room to go eat.

The next day

Dads new assistant is supposed to arrive today after gustav suddenly quit just days prior. Im not sure why, all he left was a sloppy hard to read resignition letter and i never saw him again.

I left my room around 8 AM. Coencidentally the exact time Klaus left his room. 

"Good morning. How was your first night?" I asked shyly.

"It was good. Would you like to go get breakfast with me?"

I nod my head as we decend down the stairs. We enter the kitchen to see no one in their. "We should make waffles!" I say as the idea pops into my head. "Brilliant idea" Klaus smiles at me.

By the time the waffles are dome Violet and Sunny enter the kitchen. We all sit down to eat, excited for the day ahead. I look up and meet eyes with Klaus. Is he starring at me? No, it cant be. Im just being silly.

A knock at the door brings me away from my thoughts. The four of us go to see who is at the door. I open it to see a strange looking man, who just pushes past me and walks straight towards the Baudalaires. 

"Hello, hello, hello, orphans."
