Winter arrived earlier that year.
The streets were filled with white lights, scarves, and the smell of warm bread drifting from the cafes. The air was cold, but the house was warm, as always.
Choco slept on the same couch, now older, fatter.
And on the shelf, between books and cat figurines, was still that crumpled sheet of paper.
The dancing cat.
Jisung looked at her one Saturday afternoon, while Minho was napping.
He thought of everything.
The first time they saw each other.
The afternoons after school.
The reunion.
The move, the coffee breaks, the midnight hugs, the times they got angry and then laughed at how silly they were.
And he felt something in his chest.
Not an urgency.
Not a need.
A certainty.
He sat next to Minho and watched him sleep, his brow furrowed slightly as always, as if even in his dreams he were struggling with something.
He stroked his hair.
"Hey," he whispered.
Minho opened his eyes, half asleep.
"What happened?"
Jisung smiled, small, like the first times he had.
"Do you want to dance with me forever?"
Minho blinked. He stared at him.
"Are you... proposing to me with that cheesy line?"
"Yes," Jisung said without hesitation. "And without a ring. But with all my heart."
Minho was silent for a moment.
Then he sat up, stretched like a cat, and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Can I say something just as cheesy?"
"You always can."
"I already married you the day you gave me that note. You just didn't tell me."
Jisung let out a half-tearful laugh. He hugged him tightly, as if trying to hold onto that moment forever.
The wedding was small.
A group of close friends, lots of white flowers, and a dance floor where the first song wasn't slow.
It was joyful.
Like a dancing cat.
And at the end, while everyone was laughing, Minho whispered in his ear:
"You know what?"
"What?"
"I never stopped seeing you through that window."
Jisung looked at him, his eyes full of love.
"And I never stopped waiting for you on the other side."
