Papers ran all over the office room. "FUCK!" Someone screamed from behind. That someone was Chance. He was devastated from how much money he was loosing. The once rich man who owned a whole casino and lived life to his fullest, falling right in front of his eyes. The bankruptcy caught up eventually as no one came to gamble to their fullest anymore.

Chance pulled his hair as he couldn't do this anymore. He had to give up his casino that had been pushed down generations by generations, now at its end. It was such a disappointment.

2 million debt was no joke alright.

And that's how it all started.

"Chance... get up and do something productive once! I can't keep cleaning your mess." Elliot walked to the front cleaning the counter. He owned a bar which was down the city where everyone knew him well, especially Chance. They were the closest friends ever.

Chance was surviving off Elliot as he stayed at his bar in the basement where he could be safe from any debt collectors.

"I'll do it soon.. just let me finish this drink real quick," Chance took one last sip before putting the glass down and laid his head on the counter that Elliot was cleaning off. "Mmm... That hit the spot..." Mumbled Chance.

"CHANCE! Get up from the counter, I just cleaned that area!" Elliot smacked Chances head from the back which startled him a bit. "My bad.. i'm just exhausted from yesterday you know? Having to do all this work to try and get my money back." Elliot sighed and smiled faintly rubbing Chances back. "Come on now, you'll make it soon. Just keep working and you'll be out of it by no time!"

Chance gave a side eye. How was making 2 million dollars gonna be easy? Maybe he could rob a bank but that would only put a huge record in his papers.

"I'm gonna head out for a walk, can I borrow 10 bucks real quick?" Chance smirked taking his hand out in front of Elliot's face. "You better not use it for gambling." Elliot was serious. Gambling wasn't going to get Chance any further. "Fine fine. I'm just gonna buy a coffee and maybe go to the park you know?" Chance didn't even have to look at his hand to know he was given money. Elliot spoiled him a bit too much.

"Toodles buckaroo!" Chance ran out the bar as Elliot watched him run out with his cash. He crossed his arms before getting back at the counter.

"He will never change will he..." Elliot sighed laughing under his breath as he got back to cleaning the bar.

Chance was at the cafe grabbing a quick drink. The coffee shop owner didn't even have to look twice before making his usual. "Thanks Two time, catch you later!" Chance rushed out the front door before they could even say a word. "Yeah yeah, go on!"

At last, Chance stared deep into the view before inhaling the fresh air. The kids running around in the grass. The ocean and sand from afar. The smell and feelings. It all reminded him when he was a kid running around in the park, but he didn't really remember much from his childhood.

Not being tracked down or hunted gave him some peace in mind for once.

Chance sat down on the edge where the waves were hitting and dipped his feet into the clear water. "This waters pretty fresh." He took a deep breath and leaned his head back until he saw a glimpse of someone. They were wearing a long suit and a fedora covering their face. They were buying ice cream from the stand and handing it out to the kids who walked by. "What a gentleman," Chance muttered under his breath.

He got an idea and wanted to get some ice cream too since the sun was shining bright today.

Chance got up and slid his oxfords back on along with his fedora. Once he turned around to walk towards the stand, it was gone. Chance frowned and looked everywhere to see where the stand went, but no sight of it was to be seen.

"This is so unfair." Chance was furious that he didn't get up fast enough. He took a long 2 minutes to put his oxfords back on which ended up making him late. He acted like such a baby whenever he didn't get what he wanted.

A kid was walking past chance with ice cream and looked at chance up and down with a weird look. This pissed Chance off even more to the point he put his leg in front of the kid and ended up making him trip with his ice cream. "AHH!"

The kid was crying which made Chance laugh a bit before fixing his hair. Little did he know that he was being watched by the man who was handing them out. He towered over Chance from behind and had a straight but furious dark look on his face. Chance slightly turned around and was shocked by the man and also fell down right next to the kid who was crying.

"Here you go little guy," The man handed him another fresh ice cream before letting him go back to the park. "H-heh..." Chance gulped. The man didn't look quite pleased with what just happened.

"Why don't you get up and follow me real quick?" The man pulled Chance up by the collar and dragged him somewhere far.

"Let me go you-" Before Chance could say anything, he was pushed against the hard brick wall by his head and was held still. "OW-"

"Shut up before I kill you."

Chance went silent as his breathing was very heavy as he was being pinned against the wall.

"Who are you to bully kids at the park."

It wasn't a question. It felt more like a threat to Chance.

"W-well.. I swear it was a mistake sir! They started it!" The man put more pressure on Chances head and made him wince in pain.

"Pulling off a trick like that to a 7 year old. Do you think that's funny, Chance?"

My name.

He said my name.

How could he possibly know my name?

"W-what do you mean... Chance...?" Chance started questioning who this man was.

"You know exactly what I meant gambler.

Those words sent a chill down Chances spine.

Before things could escalate any further, The man heard footsteps coming from the alleyway and lost concentration. Chance took the chance to hit and run. He ran down the alleyway to wherever it took him. The man was frustrated and looked both directions before chasing after Chance. He was catching up, catching up too fast.

Chances breath was uneven as he ran with all his might. Adrenaline hit him like a bus, his legs kept moving and he never looked back. He heard more footsteps coming from the front and decided to take the other way as he was getting cornered into a box.

No. I can't get stuck here, not now.

Chance saw light coming from afar and sprinted towards it as he heard shouting from behind.

He quickly ran to a taxi and drove off to safety. He looked back from the mirror and saw him standing in front of the alley way. He slowly disappeared back into the darkness which sent a chill through Chances spine again.
_____

Chance ran inside through the door into the bar. His breathing was heavy and hard. He ran straight into Elliot grabbing onto him. "Woah Chance!-" They both fell onto the ground as Chance laid on Elliot. "P-please don't let them find me..." He stuttered holding onto Elliot. "What happened.. are you okay?!" He got up straight and lifted Chances face.

He was crying.

Oh how traumatized it might've made him.

Elliot hugged Chance and caressed his head which made him flinch from the pain he felt earlier on his head. "Come on big boy, let's get you downstairs." Elliot got up helping Chance from the floor getting him to his room.

The next day Chance would forget what happened. Well that's what Elliot thought since he didn't know what happened last night. Chance was always kind of stupid.
