The sun shone on the reunion room of the Avengers Compound which was filled with New York's mightiest heroes arguing about whether or not Thor should be allowed to eat 1000 pop tarts a day. Tony thought that since he was the one paying for everything he should have the right of decision which is actually the most sensible thing Tony had said in the last 40 years which should be around his birth. But Thor wasn't agreeing with him and he was followed by Clint and Natasha only here to annoy Tony of course.

The chatter died down when Fury opened the door. Everyone glanced at him anticipating the reasons of his sudden arrival.

- I won't waste time, I have found a potential new recruit for the Avengers project and I need a volunteer to train with her to analyse her fighting capacities when she'll be coming next week, he explained with his usual seriousness in his tone.

They all looked at him surprised, nobody expected this. Especially Steve who had been already mentally preparing for a World War 3. - PTSD is a real curse - Fury then continued to speak since no one was answering

- Her name is Maya Lehnsherr, she's a 22 year old woman able to control people's mind

They looked even more dumb-founded when he shared that information and Bruce broke the silence by asking

- How is that possible, I mean how does she do that ? The man was already muttering to himself looking for scientifical reasons. However Fury quickly cut him and said

- You'll ask her yourself, this is not why I came here. I need to make sure someone is willing to help her being ready for a potential fight in the future.

-Well I would love to but I'm a very bad teacher, shared Tony his lame excuse left Fury unaffected, he rolled his eye and commented

- I wasn't thinking about you Stark, we all know you aren't really useful among the young. I think agent Romanoff or Barton would be more suiting.

The two friends glanced at each other silently fighting to escape the newbie nevertheless Natasha was more fleet than the archer and explained to Fury that she had a mission that required her full attention and her lack of focus may compromise the task. Clint muttered under his breath probably not so nice words towards the spy in Russian to which she plainly smiled. Clint put his hand on his forehead irritated whilst letting out a long sigh until unwillingly agreeing to take care of the girl.

Maya played anxiously with her fingers as the car drove down to the parking lot of the Avengers compound, it was a first time in years that she had left the mental institution. The driver on the seat in front of her who presented himself has Happy Hogan - She thought it was weird to call your child Happy - tried to comfort her by talking about the luxury of the compound and the Avengers with their weird but apparently endearing habits. He mentioned someone who had the odd habit to wander in the vents and another one who had a peculiar obsession with pop tarts. She thought to herself that they may be worse than patients in the loony bin.

Happy walked her to the door and gave her her luggage before excusing himself and walking back to his car. Great now I am alone, she thought to herself while nervously opening the front door. Everyone were walking everywhere focused on whatever they were up to not even noticing Maya. After a while, a tall and muscular guy that she was able to identify as Captain America finally acknowledged her. He politely smiled at her as he walked up to the girl. He introduced himself

-I apologise on the behalf of my colleagues, unfortunately today we are snowed under by work. My name is Steve Rogers and I'll walk you to your room so you can get settled in.
