Chapter 1 - Latte

The future is always unknown

Zaine woke up with loud notification noises coming from his phone. This is always his morning routine. He picked up his phone with his usual poker face. This is his face when he is in his apartment, he is always down. He looked at his phone and saw Rico's message, it's about their flight to Cebu. This throws Zaine's off guard, the fact that he forgets about their flight in Cebu completely shattered everything. It's now 10:00 AM, and their flight is at 8:00 AM. Rico's message is full of disappointment and sultry. But as always the situation goes, Zaine says sorry over and over again, Rico as a "kind" person tends to forgive over and over again. Zaine booked a flight again, this time the flight is 8:00 PM, the time that he will not miss.

Zaine is a Magazine Editor. It has been his dream ever since he was a kid. But before that, he once dreamt of being a Flight Attendant, but when he told everyone they laughed for hours, why? Because he is a male. So he dicided to be a Magazine Editor, at least in that job he is acceptable. Zaine and Rico are childhood friends, they are very close, so close that sometimes they are inseparable. It all changed when Zaine who was currently in grade 6 at that time changed school, but they regained their closeness when Zaine transferred at their school at 3rd year high school. Zaine is always the type of person that seeks attention, but grabbing it is not hard for him. He has this personality that is super loud when he is with his friends. Like Zaine, Rico tends to be loud, sometimes louder than Zaine, making him a lot worse. They are both the power best friends when they are in high school, making them so much closer.

His suitcase is properly packed yesterday, making him do what ever he wants to do for 8 hours before getting ready for his new flight. He changed his clothes and started to ready his laptop, he needs a new cover for his magazine design. The thing is, it must have a story that will fill the void of his past magazine, the boss seems unsatisfied to his magazine portraying "a man's journey to his richness". People these days don't find motivational quotes or experience as a interesting magazine, so he needs to find a new and fantastic story that will make everyone interested in their magazine. Zaine and Rico are partners when it comes to making a magazine, the feeling that Zaine's write and the photos that Rico's take is more than enough for everyone to looked at the magazine and read it. It really makes Zaine wonder, why his magazine flops.

You can say that Zaine is the type of person that cannot do this thing if he didn't order any coffee. His apartment is nearby to a mall, making this his most hang-out place. He went a caffee with his laptop, with his usual order of course latte. "Good afternoon sir! One latte?" The barista said with confidence, this makes Zaine smiles indicating that it is his order. He was about to go to his seat, near the window, when someone taps his shoulder. He looked at the person who taps him, but before he reacts, this person hugs her tightly. It is Jeya, his friends since high school. He smiled at her and was about to speak when Jeya interrupted him. "Let's sit down there!" pointing to the window seat. While they are going to the window, he noticed a man's figure, but he cannot seems to visualize it. "Ano 'to? Date mo?" Zaine's said and chuckles, he looked at Jeya's face and saw a confused look pointing at him. "Si Enzo 'yan be" She said and started to laugh, Enzo just looked at Zaine and smiled. That's when he realized that it was really him. "Oh! Hindi kita nakilala ha!" At this point, Zaine is shocked as if someone cheated on him. Zaine and Jeya sat down to the other side of the table, Jeya facing Enzo while Zaine at the window. "How's life Zaine? May bago na ba?" Jeya said teasingly, Zaine just glance to her and shows a faint smile. "Ah wala pa, iniwan mo pa kase eh" Enzo said with a serious face, Zaine knows that Enzo has a fued with him that he didn't get the chance to fix when they were high school. "I have my reasons" Zaine said lowering his head, he knows what he had done is not a good thing, but he also knows that his decision is for the best. "Lame reasons? Immature reasons?" Enzo said, you can feel that his voice is getting mad, the vibration of how he spoke is enough to make Zaine Silence. As for Jeya? She cannot speak, he never sees this side of Enzo.

"Two Latte's and one strawberry shake with extra whip" the waiter said, breaking the commotion
