The beautiful moonlight leaked through Oto's curtains, waking him up from his slumber. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, looking at the time on his phone. 6:35 am.
"First day of 9th grade... yay..." He sleepily said, getting out from under his dark purple weighted blanket. Oto ran a hand through his curly black hair, hating how long it was starting to get again, and it was a nightmare to convince his mother to get it cut to the length he liked and made him feel more like a man.
But he wasn't. According to his mom. He was a girl and will always be one to her and he hated being perceived that way. He was a man and would always be one no matter how many times his mother told him otherwise.
"Breakfast is ready sweetheart!" his mother yelled from downstairs. Oto groans, getting up and putting his new school uniform on before walking downstairs.
"Uh- what happened to your skirt I got you, dear?" She asked, visibly upset because her 'daughter' was wearing such boyish clothes.
"I uh- didn't feel comfortable wearing it. Too short." He said, scratching the back neck.
"What did I tell you? Shorts are for boys, you know that... I don't want you dressing like something you aren't." She sighed, looking at him with a sad face as she put her hands on his shoulders.
Oto pulled away, going to sit and eat some of the breakfast that was sat out for him. he grabbed a few things and started eating, not caring if he wasn't using his table manners.
After breakfast Oto got up to go brush his teeth and fix his hair. He did his skincare before grabbing his bag from his room and walking to the front door. his bike leaned on the side of the house. He got on and started biking to his new school: Karasuno. He had heard about the school through the news because their volleyball team had won a game a few years back and it got him interested.
As Oto biked, he loved passing by a small park and petting the stray cats that were all around said park. He got off his bike and pet some of the kittens that walked up to him. Pulling out a small plastic baggy of cat treats and gave them each one. After the kittens had each of their treats, they ran off to go do whatever stray cats did.
Getting back on his bike, he rode to school, the wind blowing through his hair. The orange and pink sky was beautiful; it made him feel that everything would be okay no matter what happened to him. Once he arrived at the school, he made sure his bike was secure before walking to the front doors of the school.
