Act 1: Unwanted Reunion & Forced Partnership

The air was thick with the stench of blood and gunpowder.

Dazai Osamu stood in the dimly lit alley, his hands buried deep in the pockets
of his coat, eyes half-lidded in lazy amusement. Across from him, standing amidst the bodies of fallen enemies, was Nakahara Chuuya. His signature hat was slightly askew, a smudge of blood painting his cheek, and the embers of his ability flickered around his gloved fingers.

"You've got to be kidding me," Chuuya growled, his voice sharp with irritation. "You? The Agency sent you?"

Dazai offered him a slow, knowing smirk. "Surprised? It's been a while, partner. Missed me?"

Chuuya scoffed, rolling his shoulders as if to shake off the tension coiling there. "Like hell I did. If I knew you were involved, I wouldn't have agreed to this damn mission."

"That hurts, Chuuya. Really." Dazai pressed a hand to his chest in mock offense. "After everything we've been through, you still treat me like an enemy."

"That's because you are an enemy," Chuuya snapped. "Or have you forgotten that you betrayed the Mafia?"

Dazai's grin didn't falter, but there was something sharp in his eyes. "And yet, here we are, forced to work together again. Life's funny that way, isn't it?"

Chuuya clenched his fists. The mission was simple—take down a growing underground syndicate, The Hollow Serpents, before they could carve their way into Yokohama. The Port Mafia wanted them eliminated. The Armed Detective Agency wanted their plans uncovered. Unfortunately, both organizations had come to the same conclusion: the best way to take them down was for their two strongest ex-members to join forces.

Neither of them liked it. But orders were orders.

"Let's just get this over with," Chuuya muttered, stepping past Dazai, only for the taller man to fall into step beside him.

"Oh, Chuuya," Dazai said, voice almost sing-song. "I can already tell this is going to be so much fun."

Chuuya didn't respond—he just kept walking. But if Dazai noticed the way his fists tightened at his sides, he was smart enough not to mention it.

Upcoming:

Old grudges resurface as Chuuya struggles with the betrayal of Dazai's departure, while Dazai continues to poke at wounds left unhealed.
