I don't know what led me into the dark alley, no glimpse of light. Not even the moons light reached it, yet it captivated me towards it. then all of a sudden a pair of eyes flicked open and it looked like it had lit the whole alley. Sand Brown eyes. I was too stunned to speak. nowadays it was rare to find such eyes on the outskirts of NYC. "Kiara" it called out then vanished. It all happened too fast, I couldn't decipher whether it actually vanished or it just ran, but what astounded me most was

'how did it know my name?'.

My names Kiara, Kiara Lorres. High school dropout. I needed to survive on my own and I couldn't afford the fees so I dropped out after my crazy rich parents disowned me, odd I know but it happened and luckily for me I had been working at a restaurant night shift but presently I took three jobs. In early mornings I I was entertainer at a local underground place meant for gamblers all I had to do was play any instrument given to me. It was really dangerous at night so I preferred working in the morning. In the afternoons I worked at a coffee shop owned by an old creepy lady who actually paid really well and by six pm I was expected at the restaurant and every night when I returned to my little flat I was exhausted but I had gotten used to it after all it had been a year now.

"Kiara" my best friend Lloyd Morris called as he entered the coffee shop.

"did you even get any sleep this night," he held a laugh as he approached the counter and I placed his latte, no sugar just the way he liked it.

"I could have slept a little longer if someone of the name Lloyd hadn't brought friends to crash at my place like his wasn't near mine," I said giving him a dead glare. Lloyd had been my best friend since forever, which by that I mean the day I started working here, a year ago when he walked in and told his girlfriend Sacha he was sorry he cheated on her with me and oh boy did I get mad that year because till now whenever she sees me she would give me dead glares.

"oh don't act like someone who had kicked me out instead of taking shots to relieve stress," he said as he pushed a strand of his dark tousled hair before taking his coffee and moved to the side as others bought theirs. Minutes later, a group of people came in looked like they were teenagers about to play a match.

"its strange seeing you out in the day you never come out except at night for parties?" I snorted and he waved as he left. Lloyd had a strange disease that caused him never to go under the sunlight it gave him bad burns .

Honestly without Lloyd here every moment at my tail I would have been dead because of boredom. He always kept me company and honestly I'm really grateful though id never tell him that.

I took a glance at my watch as I pushed open the door to the restaurant attracting all eyes on me

"YOU ARE LATE" my grumpy manager yelled as I managed to escape the glances as I reached the serving point, where all the food was being cooked. He always called it the serving point which I'll never understand why.

"just get to work" he added. Just so you now I didn't give the him apology he wanted.

My manager Mr. Federick was a short man with short temper, rude and egocentric yet he always asked us why his wife divorced him like he didn't know the reason

" I wonder how she kept up with him for three damn years" my colleagues would always whisper when he asked. "should I pass by and pick you on my way home?" Lloyd asked over the phone as I served the guest thank God for ear ports . "because I'll be leaving in about two hours," he added. When I returned to the serving point I took out my phone "my shift will end soon anyway, I'll be waiting near the restaurant "

"okay cool I'll try arriving earlier" he ended the call.

An hour later I stood near the restaurant still at that alley and it gave me a chance to think about what had happened here two weeks ago, since then I never thought of it. Too busy, I didn't even tell Lloyd. For some reason I wanted to explore deeper into the alley , I walked and suddenly I hit my feet on a stone "what the..." I cut myself short facepalming myself reminding myself of good language. I then heard muffled noises behind me and turned to see what looked like a dog in the shadows and when it turned to look at me I let out a soft gasps, it had the same mesmerizing eyes like the thing I saw here 2 weeks ago, I walked up to it and it just turned and ran away like it was avoiding something or someone behind me, that's when I felt the presence rapidly I turned to find.....

"Lloyd? Geez man don't go around scaring people like that" I warned as I turned and left the alley " why did you have to scare me hat way?" I asked once I was out under the street lights but he wasn't behind me anymore and I felt a sharp feel of fear within me as I ran towards the alley and I felt like I was in a different world because the alley, that same alley which was so dark was now bright with the daring moons light. I kept walking my eyes searching for Lloyd until my back hit a concrete surface or so I thought until I turned to find Lloyd . "l-llo-lloyd?" I asked scared to touch what was before me, it was Lloyd he stared at me holding my arms his natural dark brown eyes now red

"sorry kiara" he said before everything went completely dark.
