The gym was alive with energy, the air thick with the sound of sneakers screeching across the polished floor, the rhythm of volleyballs thudding against the court. It was a typical afternoon practice for Karasuno High School's volleyball team, but to you, it felt anything but typical. You, Y/N, had been a manager for the team for as long as you could remember. A dedicated and hardworking member of Karasuno's volleyball family, you knew each player well, but there was one who stood out among the rest: Nishinoya Yū.
He was small, energetic, and always seemed to radiate a confidence that was contagious. His spiky hair, his laugh, and the way he cared for his teammates made you smile. But what struck you the most was his passion for the game. His love for volleyball was undeniable, and it was something that pulled you in. As a manager, you were often on the sidelines, helping with logistics and offering moral support, but it was hard not to notice how much you admired Nishinoya. What you hadn't realized, though, was that your feelings for him were growing deeper every day.
You always noticed how he seemed to be the most carefree during practices, his energy lifting everyone's spirits. It was like he could never be tired, always joking around, pulling pranks on his teammates, and making everyone laugh. Even though you were always focused on your responsibilities, you couldn't help but feel a connection every time he looked your way with that mischievous grin of his.
One afternoon, after a particularly intense practice, the team was exhausted. You had just finished handing out towels and water bottles, watching as everyone gathered in the corner to cool down. Nishinoya, as always, was the last one to sit down. He was trying to catch his breath, his wild hair sticking to his forehead. You had always found that charming, but today it was different. You noticed how his muscles glistened with sweat, his eyes sparkling with energy, and your heart skipped a beat.
"Y/N!" Nishinoya suddenly called out, his voice breaking through your thoughts. "Could you grab me a towel? I think I left one by the net."
You nodded, trying to shake off the butterflies in your stomach. As you walked over to the net, you couldn't help but smile. Nishinoya always found ways to make you laugh, even when you didn't feel like it.
When you returned with the towel, you tossed it to him playfully. "Here you go, you troublemaker," you said with a grin.
Nishinoya caught the towel with ease, flashing you a wide, toothy smile. "Thanks, Y/N! You're the best!" he exclaimed, his voice full of energy, as if he'd just played an entire match.
You couldn't help but laugh. "You sure you're not tired? You've been going non-stop all practice."
"Never!" Nishinoya replied, striking a pose as if he were a superhero. "No way I'm ever too tired for volleyball!"
You smiled, shaking your head. It was moments like this that made you fall for him all over again.
As the rest of the team gathered to leave, you stayed behind to help clean up the gym. Nishinoya, however, approached you with a slight bounce in his step.
"You know, Y/N, I've been meaning to ask you something," he said, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
You turned to face him, wiping your hands on your shorts. "What's up, Noya?"
He scratched the back of his neck, a sheepish smile spreading across his face. "Well, I was wondering... if you'd like to hang out with me sometime. You know, outside of practice?"
You froze for a moment. You had always enjoyed spending time with him in the gym, but the thought of hanging out outside of school made your heart race in a way you hadn't expected.
