In twilight's hush, where shadows dance and play,
Amidst the whispers of a dying day,
I wander, lost, in sorrow's darksome night,
With heart aflame, and spirit void of light.
The winds do mourn, with eerie, mournful sighs,
As I, a wretch, do tread the desolate skies.
The stars above, like diamonds in the sky,
Do twinkle faint, with icy, spectral eye,
Their light, a mockery, of joy and love's warm fire,
That once did burn, with fervent, passionate desire.
Now, naught but embers, of a love that's lost its way,
Do smolder still, in sorrow's dark, dismal day.
The world, a vast, and lonely, barren land,
Doth stretch before me, like a mournful, sandy strand,
Where waves of sorrow, crash, and foam, and roar,
And I, a shipwrecked mariner, do cling to shore.
The winds, a dirge, do whisper, through the trees so tall,
A somber melody, that doth enthrall.
In this, my darkest hour, I find no peace,
No solace, nor comfort, from life's bitter release,
The memories of joy, now taunt, and tease, and sting,
Like autumn's leaves, that wither, and fall, and cling.
The ghosts of love, and laughter, do haunt me still,
And in their eyes, I see, a sorrow, that doth chill.
The night, a shroud, doth wrap, the world in dark despair,
And I, a mourner, do lament, with sorrow's plaintive air,
The loss, the grief, the pain, that doth afflict my heart,
A weight, that presses, and doth never depart.
The tears, a deluge, do flow, like autumn's rain,
And in their depths, I see, a reflection, of my pain.
In this, my somber mood, I find no respite,
No refuge, from the storms, that doth assail my sight,
The darkness, deep, doth swallow, all my hopes, and fears,
And I, a wanderer, do roam, through sorrow's endless years.
The stars above, a distant, fading light,
Do twinkle still, in sorrow's dark, and endless night.
