Redamancy

Prologue

My life has been like a race track. The turns that can come when you're least expecting it. And that can turn your life around if you don't know when they come. The ups and downs. The moments when you're so close to the finish line; and the milliseconds that will decide if you make or break it. The moments when you know that you have to retire from a race and have to accept that you'll never reach the finish line. The amazing feeling when you win a Grand Prix. The selcouth feeling when you win the World Championship. And the crashes. The mild ones when you just slide on the gravel for a while. The medium ones when you lose a wheel or a front wing. And the hard ones. When the car breaks in half and bursts out in flames; and you don't know whether you'll make it out alive or not.

And also because I've spent the majority of my life on a race track.

I was born in Belgium on June 13th 2000 at 3:33 am. My mother called me her angel baby because the time I was born is an angel number, hence how I got my middle name. She was so happy that she gave birth to a girl. My father wanted another boy that he could project his racing dreams on and as old fashioned as he was, in his mind, a girl didn't belong in a racecar. And I've always felt that he resented me and my mother; me for being born a girl; and my mother and her body for making a girl.

My brother was head over heels in love with me (in a non creepy, brotherly way of course) from the moment he saw me and my mother told him that I was his little sister. He was no longer the only child, and that made him happy. He always protected me, it didn't matter if he was in more trouble than me, in his world I always came first.

I am Evelina Angel Verstappen. Sister to the, now, 4 time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen. Daughter to Sophie Kumpen and former racer Jos Verstappen.

You'll need to buckle up your seat belt, you'll need them for the turns, spins and crashes. It's lights out and away we go.
