In Southern California, there lived a happy family. The Stuarts family.
Mr. and Mrs. Stuart lived happily with their children, Emily and John.
They were wealthy and fervent Christians. Mr. Stuart was an architect at a big company and Mrs. Stuart, owned a bakery.
The children, Emily who was 13 years old and John, who was five, did excellently well in school both in character and learning. They were a perfect family.
One day, Mr. Stuart came home drunk and started yelling at everyone.
"Honey, what is the matter?" Mrs. Stuart asked and touched his head but he pushed her.
"I don't deserve this special treatment. I got fired! All I've worked for has been flushed down the drain!" Mr. Stuart yelled and began to cry.
"Daddy!! It's gonna be okay!" John cried.
Mrs. Stuart asked Emily to take John inside. Once they shut the door, she looked at her husband.
"I understand how painful it is to lose one's job, but that doesn't mean that you have to go out drinking and then come home yelling at everyone." Mrs. Stuart said and walked out of the living room.
The next day wasn't as sweet as it used to be. Mr. Stuart lay on the bed and refused to have breakfast with his family.
"Mum, how long is dad going to be like that?" Emily asked and glanced at her brother.
"Your dad needs space okay. He's going to be okay." Mrs. Stuart told her daughter and kissed her forehead trying to fight back her tears.
Emily went to school feeling down and sad. "Emily are you okay. Let's go and play." Kiesha Emily's friend told her.
"I don't feel like playing today." Emily replied and began flipping through the pages of her book.
When classes were over, Emily and John waited for their dad to come and pick them up like he normally does but no-one came.
"Mrs. Stuart, we tried your husband's line but it wasn't going through. Please come and pick up your kids." Emily's teacher said to Mrs. Stuart over the phone.
