So, this fanfic is the result of a moment I had after finishing Fourth Wing (book by Rebecca Yarros) mixed with my ever-present obsession with Aemond Targaryen. While reading, all I could think was: This. This is exactly what HotD is missing — a school, trials, tests, teachers, academic rivalry! (Yes, I’m a Potterhead at heart, you get it). Soooo, what we have here is basically a "Fourth Wing" remix set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, more specifically in House of the Dragon. But to be clear, we’re working in an alternative universe, because the events of ASOIAF won’t really play out here — or at least not in any canon way.
I wanted to make that super clear because if you’re reading this and suddenly think, huh, this feels familiar, you’re probably right. I was heavily inspired by events, characters, and the overall vibe of Fourth Wing, though I did my best to rework everything to fit into Westeros.
Oh, and if you came here from my other fanfic, The Power of Prophecy, you might notice some recurring themes: we’ve got an OC who’s Daemon and Rhea’s kid, rejected (because I have daddy issues and love exploring that trope). This OC also grew up disconnected from her Targaryen heritage and has to learn everything from scratch. About Daemon… I’m considering making him a slightly less trashy dad this time, but no promises.
