The sun had long since set, leaving only the faint glow of the city skyline to break the darkness. On the rooftop of an abandoned building, Izuku Midoriya sat on the edge, his legs dangling over the side. The cool night air brushed against his skin, but it wasn't the breeze that sent shivers through him-it was the presence behind him.
"I didn't think you'd come," Izuku said, turning his head slightly.
Dabi leaned against the wall behind him, his usual lazy smirk in place. The faint blue glow of his flames illuminated the edges of his face, casting shadows across his scarred features. "And miss our little late-night chats? Not a chance."
Izuku rolled his eyes, but a small smile tugged at his lips. These secret meetings had started out of necessity-Dabi had information about the League that Izuku needed. But somewhere along the way, they had become something more. He wasn't sure when it had happened, but he found himself looking forward to these moments.
"You always come alone," Dabi remarked, stepping closer. His voice was low, smooth, and carried a hint of something Izuku couldn't quite place.
"It's safer this way," Izuku replied. "For both of us."
Dabi hummed in agreement, stopping a few feet away. "You're a strange one, hero. Most people would be too afraid to meet a villain in the middle of the night, but not you."
Izuku turned to face him fully, his green eyes gleaming in the dark. "I don't think you're as bad as you want people to believe. You're more than just... this."
Dabi's smirk faltered, just for a moment, and something unreadable flickered in his eyes. He took another step forward, closing the distance between them. "You always say things like that. Like you see something in me that even I don't."
"Maybe I do," Izuku said softly. He wasn't sure where he found the courage, but he stood, now face-to-face with Dabi, their breaths mingling in the cool air. "Maybe I see someone who's been hurt, who's lost, but who still has a chance."
Dabi's gaze dropped to Izuku's lips, and for a moment, neither of them moved. The air between them grew heavier, charged with tension that neither could ignore. Slowly, Dabi reached out, his fingers brushing against Izuku's hand. His touch was warm, almost burning, but Izuku didn't pull away.
"You're playing a dangerous game, hero," Dabi murmured, his voice a whisper against the night. "Getting close to someone like me."
"Maybe," Izuku whispered back, his heart racing. "But I think it's worth the risk."
Dabi chuckled, low and rough, before leaning in, his lips barely brushing against Izuku's. It was tentative, hesitant, as if he was afraid to push too far. But when Izuku leaned in further, closing the gap, the hesitation melted away.
The kiss was slow, heated, filled with everything they couldn't say out loud. Dabi's hands found Izuku's waist, pulling him closer, while Izuku's fingers tangled in Dabi's jacket. The warmth of Dabi's flames flickered around them, mingling with the crackling energy that always seemed to surround Izuku.
When they finally broke apart, both of them were breathing hard, their foreheads resting against each other.
"Still think it's worth the risk?" Dabi asked, his smirk returning, though it was softer now, less guarded.
Izuku smiled, his eyes bright. "Yeah I do"
