I just realized how shallow the surface is. You can look at a person and see their eyes without knowing what they've seen. You can see the scars but not know why or the meaning of them. You can hear their voice without knowing what their scream and sobs sound like. You can see their smile without knowing what their true laughter sounds like. You can hear their voice without knowing how much pain they're in. You can't come close in guessing what someone had been through by just looking at them. Because maybe the necklace they're wearing represents something you could have never imagined. Like a promise to themselves, to not harm themselves. Maybe it is simply just a best friend necklace. Maybe it's a necklace with their mom's name on it because they miss her. Maybe it is a necklace a friend gave to them before they passed. You never will truly know just by looking. Because the surface is so shallow because you can see someone barely standing in the water but in reality? They're drowning. And maybe someone wears baggy clothes cause it's cold but maybe they hide their body because they're insecure. They could be insecure because of what other people have said. Or maybe they've been abused and can't bear to show it. You don't know if you only look.
