It Wasn't A Joke

A day to remember (Part 1)

The clouds rolled perfectly through the dark night sky. The landscape was all quiet, except for 3 houses hidden in the shadows of the night.

Lights to 2 of the house were off.

One house which was hidden in the leaves of the nearby tree was weathered and damp inside, the bed wasn't made up from the last time it was used. Torches were burnt out and falling to pieces.

The other house, still sat strong next to the waters edge. Cobwebs had started to form in the corners, the bed was made neatly, the torches were dimmed and weak, but they continued to burn with their last strength.

The only house with lights on was, Lynix's.

His house lit up the night sky, keeping monsters at bay. A glimmer of light in an otherwise dead area....

Lynix was in his kitchen. He was making Batman his dinner.

It has been about a week since....well what happened, happened.
Lynix didn't like to talk about it. It still scares him to this day.

Since it all happened, Lynix had become almost a carer for not only Batman but also....his friends.

"Alright Batman calm down haha!" Lynix giggles as Batman claws at his trousers.

Lynix puts Batman's food bowl down and watched happily as Batman eats it.
Lynix smiles but quickly loses it when he realizes that someone else also needs to be fed.

Lynix looks down sadly as he makes his way to the spare bedroom he had.
He quietly opens the door, he sees just as the day he put him there Doni, asleep soundly.

Lynix sighed quietly before making his way over.
He looked over at his best friend, although Doni was sleeping, Lynix knew that he wasn't okay....yet.

He remembered it all, just like it was yesterday, the screams! The blood! The pain! The.... confusion...the anger....
The....moment he nearly lost it all...

"Lynix! Jesus man! You never cease to amaze me!" Liger says happily as he holds his side, blood was still staining his hands.
"Liger...thank you bro, but let's get you both home before we say anything haha." Lynix laughs as he holds his friends in a hug.

Doni had been awfully quiet since they started walking, Lynix assumed he was tired, after all, he had been cursed for god knows how long....and, well....he had died too....

"Doni? You...okay?" Lynix asks softly

Doni looks up weakly before he puts on a mask. A mask of happiness...
"Haha yeah bro...just tired I guess." Doni  weakly replies.

Lynix could tell he was lying, but at the same time knew that Doni WAS tired. He just wished Doni wouldn't lie...

"Okay bro, we're almost home..." Lynix reassures as he stole glances at Liger.

"Doni bro! You're gonna love the stories! About the people I fought! About the whole thing!" Liger excitedly shouts over.

Doni didn't reply. He just dragged on, it was almost like...Doni didn't hear him. Almost like Doni wasn't...in there...

Lynix gave a slight jolt to Doni.
"Doni bro please, stay with us." Lynix begged as he could feel Doni becoming leavy in his arms.

Doni didn't make it home....

Lynix and Liger both had to practically carry him.

Lynix sat by Doni, he watched as Doni's chest rose and fell softly. It was weird, all Lynix could remember was Doni's harsh breathing, the twitching... the last breath....

Lynix shook it out of his head before he shook Doni softly.
"Doni....Doni wake up! You need to eat something." Lynix whispers

Doni opened his eyes slowly as he adjusted to light pouring into the room from the open door.
"Lynix?..." Doni replies groggily
"Yeah bro...it's time you ate something." Lynix replies as he takes the covers off Doni.

Doni sat up slowly eyes still shut and groaned.
"I'm not hungry..." Doni replies before he slumps back into bed.

"Doni please bro! Get up! You haven't eaten anything in like....2 days." Lynix begs with a hint of seriousness

Doni just looks up at his friend, he could see the seriousness on his face.
Doni sighed once more before he sat up again.
"Okay bro...." Doni replies as he slowly stands.

Lynix was instantly by Doni's side, he knew he was still very weak. But Doni needed to walk.

"You got it bro?" Lynix asks unsure.
"Yeah....go get Liger..." Doni replies as he dragged himself to the kitchen.

Lynix walked on ahead taking glaces at Doni before he finally exited the room.

Doni weakly kept walking, every step felt like he'd just done a thousand...he felt like he wasn't going anywhere...

You failed...

Doni sleepy eyes snapped open as he looked to his right expecting to see someone.

No one there...

Doni shook his head sadly.

"Doni! You okay bro!?" He heard from the kitchen, it was Liger.

"Yeah....I'm uh...I'm coming...." Doni replies as he finally made it to the door.

There on the table was dinner for 3.
Liger was already housing the food.
Lynix however was waiting for Doni.

"You want a drink or anything Doni?" Lynix asks softly as Doni takes a seat.
"Heyyyy! You didn't ask if I wanted a drink!" Liger angrily says with a mouthful of food.

"Liger....bro, you made yourself a drink..." Lynix face palms
"Oh-." Liger replies as he looks down at his cup.
"-my bad bro, hold onnnn.'"

Lynix scoffs happily before drawing his attention to Doni again.
He was just...playing with his food.

Lynix could tell Doni was...not himself, no one was after what happened, but himself and Liger had bounced back sort of...but Doni hadn't.

It was sad to say...but Lynix couldn't see...well, Doni in there at all....

But, that wasn't going to stop him from being the best friend Doni had chosen all that time ago.

"Doni? Do you want a tea?" Lynix asks again softly
Doni had tears in his eyes!
"I'm...sorry..." Doni weakly says as buries his eyes in his hands.

Lynix rushes over to Doni and so does Liger.
"Hey bro....it's okay, we're here for you...." Liger softly replies as he hugs his friend tightly

"Always!" Lynix replies

HEYYYY PEEPS, Happy new year, I hope you all got what you wanted, I sadly didn't wake up to a Doni Bobes under my tree but...there's always next Christmas.
