Me and my husband Harry, we had been married for almost 10 years. It was a decade filled with laughter, love, and the occasional bump in the road. But nothing prepared me for the change that opened up between us after he returned from his tour.

Harry had always been my rock, my partner in everything. Yet, the moment he came back, it felt as if he had brought with him an invisible wall that made it hard for me to reach him. He was emotionally distant, lost in thoughts that I couldn't penetrate. I tried to understand, to be patient, but the days turned into weeks, and soon enough, months had passed. The distance became unbearable. I missed him, even while he was right in front of me.

The final straw came on my birthday. I had hoped for a special day, perhaps a simple dinner or even a heartfelt message. But as the clock struck midnight and my birthday faded into the past, I realized he had forgotten completely. He was preoccupied with his work and the shadows of his experiences. I felt invisible, as if the love we had built was crumbling around me. like I didn't matter to him anymore.

So, that night, I sat down and poured my heart into a letter. I wrote about the pain of feeling alone in a marriage, the longing for his touch, and the desire to be seen again. It wasn't an easy decision, but I told him I wanted to separate. While all I wanted was him, he was clearly gone, even in our marriage. I left the letter on the kitchen counter, my heart heavy with the weight of my words, and I walked out the front door, tears streaming down my face, and a bag packed enough to stay away for a little while.

Harry came home to an empty house, the silence echoing louder than any words we could have exchanged. As he moved through the house, he noticed the letter waiting for him. With trembling hands, and his brows furrowed, he opened it, and as he read your words, a realization washed over him like a tidal wave.

Dear Harry,

As I sit down to write this letter, my heart is heavy with sadness. It's been a decade since we stood before our family and friends, promising to love and cherish each other through thick and thin. Those words meant the world to me, and I still believe in them. However, as the years have gone by, it feels like we've drifted so far apart that I can hardly recognize the man I fell in love with.

I've been searching for the right moment to talk to you, to voice my feelings, but every time I've gathered the courage, I've hesitated. Instead, I've watched as silence filled our home, as the little moments we once shared faded into mere memories. It's been months since you've touched me, held me, or even looked at me in a way that made me feel cherished. I've felt invisible, as if the connection we once had has slowly slipped away, beyond reach.

I've tried to understand what's happening—if it's something I've done or if life's challenges have taken their toll on you. But my heart aches knowing that I've remained here, yearning for the love and attention that once felt constant. I miss the intimacy we used to share, the laughter that echoed through our rooms, the partnership we built together. Now, those moments feel like they belong to a different lifetime.

I can no longer ignore the sadness that envelops me. It's hard to admit, but I have come to realize that I deserve more than this silence. It's not just about the physical distance that has grown between us; it's the emotional disconnect that pains me the most. I can't keep waiting for things to change, for the spark we once ignited to be rekindled.

So, it is with a heavy heart that I write these words: I have decided to leave. It's not a decision I've made lightly, but it feels like the only way for me to seek the love and happiness I desire. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that this choice comes from a place of love and longing, not bitterness or resentment. I truly wish you the best as you continue your own journey.
