Wednesday, October 30th- 3:22pm

I have known my friends back in Boston for years. Honestly, probably ever since I was in kindergarten. They are my pillars. My ride or die. But no one can compare to my best friend, Haisley. I met her when I started working at Summer Scoops, the ice cream place down our road in California, and we started on the same day. Besides my brothers, she is basically my only friend in Cali, so I hang out with her almost every other day. Finally, it was her first day since I have been here that she hasn't had soccer practice and can finally hang out with me.

"She's here!" I yell to my brothers, who are sitting on the couch, staring at their phones.

I race down the stairs to the front door, immediately opening it when I hear a knock.

"OH MY GOD!" I scream, jumping into her arms.

Her strength and height lift me off the ground, twirling me around for a split second before I hit the ground.

"Dude, I have missed you so much," Haisley says, setting me on the ground. "I have so much to tell you!"
I grab her school backpack, walking up the stairs with it dragging behind me.

"I have so much to tell you too, dude. You have missed a lot."

Once we get to the top of the stairs, Chris is sitting on the couch, manspreading, arm behind his head, staring at his phone.

"Hey, haisley." He says, clearly trying to make his voice sound more profound.

Haisley gives him a little wave and a perfect smile. All of us know that Chris has a crush on Haisley. Even Haisley knows, and she doesn't seem to care. She knows how I would feel if out of the blue she started dating my brother. It would make it a lot harder for the two of us to spend time together without the appearance of an annoying Chris.

"Hal, we can go in my room." I say, walking to my room before tossing her bag on my chair.

We both flop on my bed, lying flat on our stomachs, feet touching my pillows.

"What do you need to tell me?" she asks, turning her body a bit closer towards mine so she can see me.

"Well, I have been trying to ease up on school a bit more, cause apparently I am known for stressing about my grades." I say, as she rolls her eyes at me while letting out a laugh. "Oh, and I got drunk at a party, called my brothers, and threw up all over Matt's car."

I watch as her jaw drops at my comment, as I nod my head confirming it's true.

"You're turning into a party girl, I see?" she asks.

"No, not a party girl. Just trying to branch out." I say, looking down at my nails in a bit of embarrassment.

"Well, I hope you'll be up for a party because tonight, Bobby is hosting for Halloween."

Bobby is Hal's boyfriend of two years. They are the most athletic and popular couple. I don't know how I'm friends with her.

"We really want you to come, Iz. Please! You can't just hang around me when you are here."

She's not wrong. She really is the only person I hang out with in Cali besides my brothers. The last party I attended didn't end well, but I couldn't stay alone for the rest of the trip.

"I don't know how my brothers will feel about this," I say, hesitant of her offer.

"Come on, just ask them. I'm sure it will be fine," she says, nodding her head towards the room my brothers were in.
