My best friend left today. She lives in a stupid little town in Iowa. And by my best friend I don't mean Amber who everyone thinks I'm friends. Honestly I think she's a phony and a brat. But everyone else thinks we're best friends. They're all oblivious.
Back to my real best friend. Her name is Hillary, she's a little ginger with freckles and glasses. Not to mention she's a total nerd. Which is most of the reason no one thinks we could possibly be friends. But we are and I love her to death.
Besides the fact she's leaving, things are going pretty good for me. I've got a perfect boyfriend, an expensive house on the shore of San Diego, and not to mention more money than I could count. I guess I'm selfish but I'm not happy even with all that. Well I'm going to tell you guys who came in and changed it all.

"AMANDA! GET UP!" My mom was calling me "It's the first day of school and I will not allow you to be late." as usual nothing's changed over the summer and my mom's living her teenage years through me. "AMANDA!" She called again. "I'm up. I'm up." what am I gonna wear, I think while walking towards my closest. I decide against jeans and a band tee and pick floral white dress and a denim jacket.
I shower and do my make up before going downstairs to eat. While walking downstairs I can hear my mom talking on the phone to her friend about the latest episode of The Bachlorette. She's obsessed with the show. I think it's mostly because she wants to be on it. My parents are married but not happily. I push the the thought out of my head and pour some Cheerios into a bowl.
My mom comes into the kitchen "I hope you're not going to school with your hair like that." she says with her eyebrows raised. Crap. I had my hair up in a messy knot unbrushed and untamed. I hurriedly ran upstairs and into my bathroom. Taking my hair out was hard, brushing through it was even harder. After my hair was semi presentable I pulled back some of my blonde waves to make a half-up half-down kinda style. Then I rushed back downstairs. I put my backpack on and laced my boots. Before I left for my mom called after me, "Bye Bye darling." and I was off.
