"What happened?" I muttered, struggling to sit up. My head throbbed, like someone was drilling into it. Turning my head, I saw Conner lying in a hospital bed beside me, his face a mirror of confusion.
"Shut up," he grumbled. "How the hell did you get here?"
That's exactly what I intend to find out." I tried to gather my thoughts. Last thing I remembered, I was heading home from the gym. Then—nothing. And now? My throat felt like sandpaper.
The door creaked open, interrupting our questions. In walked the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen in Maglera. She was followed by an older woman, likely an intern, petite and graceful, with a natural beauty that left me speechless.
"I must be in heaven because, damn, you look as pure as an angel," I said, meeting her gaze.
She blushed, looking down before introducing herself. “Well, you gentlemen seem to be doing well,” she said with a smile. “I’m Dr. Maxwell. I’ve been taking care of you since you were admitted. I’ll go grab your discharge papers.”
Wait—admitted? How long had we been here?
"Just over 30 hours" she answered, and with that, she was gone.
