I have strings
And so do you
They tug at my heart, my head
They pull at my soul
One pulls Left
The other, Right
Constantly Straining my every decision
I have strings
Mine are sharp
They keep me awake
And when they do not, they won't let me dream
If I fight back, their grip tugs harder, choking my existence
I have strings
You have them too
They hurt me
I can't smile
And when I can, each muscle is holding the world like Atlas
But when I don't, I am a magnet to repel those I love
I have strings
They cut me open
They reveal to the world my disgusting free will
And as the silhouettes begin to leave
My foundation is left cracked
Those who stay, repair
I have strings, and that's okay.
