Nash's POV

As I was driving Natalie to school, I just had this undeniable attraction towards her. I really hoped she was in most of my classes, if not all, because I need to get to know her better. When we got there I glanced over at her for a second and I could see worry written all over her face. I grabbed her hand and reassured her, "Hey, everything is going to be okay,". "I hope so," she said trying to convince herself more than she was trying to convince me.

I could feel the countless pairs of eyes on us as we got out of the car and walked to the front doors. Out of the corner of my eye I could tell Natalie was uncomfortable, so I grabbed her hand, interlocked our fingers, and brought her closer to me. Hopefully she felt safer but I couldn't be certain.

When we approached the office she still hadn't let go of my hand which didn't bother me because I liked holding her hand. It was so soft and small and.. Okay I'm going to shut up now before I get all mushy. After we got our schedules from the lowkey rude secretary, I compared them and the only class we didn't have together was Gym.

She told me she was going to text Naya and Sam to ask if they could send pictures of their schedules. I was going to ask her if she was dating Sam, but she beat me to it and said "No, I'm not dating Sam, I think he and Naya would be cute though." I sighed in relief and nodded.

Sam had Gym with her which was good and Naya had the same schedule as me but atleast Natalie wasn't going to be alone. As we walked to homeroom, I heard murmurs and the only thing I could hear was "Are they dating," which was a valid question considering we were still holding hands. But I could only think, "Will we ever date?".

I must have said it out loud, or maybe at least mumbled it. Because Natalie stopped walking immediately, turned her head, and muttered a very quiet,

"Maybe,"

Natalie's POV

As we walked through the hallway to homeroom, I heard Nash say "Will we ever date?". He might have been thinking out loud but I decided to respond anyway, so I stopped walking and muttered a "Maybe," then continued walking to homeroom.

As we arrived the only thing I could think about was Nash. Whose hand I was holding until our homeroom teacher yelled at us, I was a little sad but I didn't want detention on the first day of school. I saw Naya and Sam but they were across the room.

In homeroom we had to sit in alphabetical order which wasn't a problem because my last name is Hughes, and Nash's was Grier so we sat next to each other. On the other side of me was this girl named Aliyah who was really nice and was telling me how great the school is. Before she could finish the homeroom teacher started giving out lockers and just with my luck I had a locker next to Aliyah but Nash's was two down from mine.

After about 10 more mins of everyone talking, the bell rang signaling the end of homeroom. Nash waited for me to swap numbers with Aliyah before we left and went to Math. I went through the rest of my classes and I did in fact get to sit next to Nash in all of them. My teachers were nice for the most part but it was only the first day, so it was too soon to judge any of them.

Nash offered to drive the four of us home but I invited them all over so that Nash and Sam could meet my mom and then maybe we could walk to the park Naya showed me. On the way there, I found out that Naya was considered very popular at our school as well as Nash. They weren't the type to bully people which was good.

When we got to my house, my mom was in the kitchen so I asked her if she could come to the living room for a minute. "Mom, this is Nash and Sam. They go to Naya and I's school." I said while pointing at them. "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Ms. George but you can call me Madison." she said nicely. "Mom, can we go to the park, we'll be back before dark." I asked hopefully. "Sure, but make sure you all tell your parents." she said before walking back into the kitchen.

Naya went next door to tell her mom or my aunt however you want to refer to her. Nash and Sam texted their parents to tell them the plan. After everyone got permission we headed towards the park. On our short walk there, I noticed that Sam and Naya were walking really close together and whispering to eachother. I was definitely going to interrogate them tomorrow. When we arrived, Nash interlocked our hands and we walked to the swings. He told me to sit down which I did and he started pushing me on the swing.

"Hey, will I ever get to meet your dad?" Nash asked. "No, probably not because he lives in California," I said and shrugged. He stopped the swing and asked me if I wanted to tell him why, so I did. I told him about my dad kicking my mom and I out, their separation and divorce, and how that's the reason my mom and I have different last names.

"I'm so sorry," He said after we sat in silence for a few moments. "It's not your fault, don't apologize." I said simply and gave a small smile. After that we just sat under a tree and talked, Naya and Sam were walking around the actual park. I found out that Nash has 3 siblings, a younger brother named Hayes, a little sister named Skylynn, and an older brother named Will. I told him about my older 'sister' and what she did so he understands why I have bitter feelings toward her.

The sun was starting to set and I told Nash we should probably go. We walked together, hand in hand, over to where Naya and Sam were. I don't really know if Nash and I holding hands is friendly or not but I really liked it. The four of us soon split into groups of two because Naya and I live next to eachother and Sam lived one house down from Nash.

I said goodbye to Naya as she went inside her house and I went into mine. When I got inside, dinner was ready so my mom and I sat down to eat. We talked about the new house and how I liked school and then she said, "So which one of those two boys do you like?" she mused adding a wink. "I think Nash but I don't really know," I said truthfully while shrugging. "Well I sail it," she said and went back to her food.

I almost spit out my chicken pasta from laughing. "mom you what," I said with a slight giggle. "Is that not a thing you say?" she said with a smile. "No, we say that we ship it not sail," I said. "Oh well, same thing," she said with a small laugh. These were the moments I loved to have with my mom.

After dinner and helping my mom clean up, I went upstairs and started to fill in some paperwork for my English class. Homework on the first day isn't new because we were in 12th grade and it was expected. Once I finished most of it up, it was due Wednesday so no need to rush. I went into my bathroom, brushed my teeth, and changed into some pink fuzzy pajama shorts and a white sports bra.

I climbed into my queen sized bed and grabbed my phone. I plugged it into its charger and I made a group chat with Naya, Sam, and Nash. They were all telling me to do cheer tryouts so I could hang out after school with them more. Naya was cheer captain, Sam was soccer captain and Nash was on the track team. I told them I would think about it and that I would talk to them later because I needed sleep for tomorrow.

They said there goodnights and I set my alarm then locked my phone. I snuggled under my blanket and started to get comfortable. Right before I fell asleep, I heard a ding from my phone. A text that said;

unknown - hey sis.

A/N Hi guys, so I ship nashalie and saya. Why did Natalie's sister text her out of nowhere tho? The collage at the top is what Naya and Sam look like. Thanks for reading xo.
