chapter two * barbecue

EVE'S P.O.V

ugh i was tired. 

i woke to the sound of seths voice whispering my name repeatedly. 

"eeeve...eve....evieeee" i slowly blinked my eyes open and groaned rolling onto my side picking up my phone and looking at the time. it was 8:00 ughghghh.

i pulled the covers over my head and he started poking my arm making me groan again.

"settthhh stoooppp ugh" i heard him chuckle and get to his feet.

"i hoped it wouldnt come to this" i scrunched my face and rolled onto my back as he walked out of the room, phew hes finally gone, i thought.

i heard seth come back into the room and chuckle, oh no, he wasnt going to-

"INCOMING" seth shouted as i opened my eyes (not a good idea). 

the next moment i was covered in freezing cold water, "YOU COMPLETE ARSEHOLE SETH ROLLINS!" i shouted gasping from the cold water that was now soaking my whole body.

seth was rolling on the floor in hysterics.

"pah! you shouldve seen your face!!" seth said inbetween breaths from laughing and getting up. i got up and slowly walked over to where seth was now standing.

i faked a smile "oh so you think thats funny huh?" i punched seths arm. 

"you think is funny? do you douchepants? huh?" i said continuing to punch his arm. 

he was taking steps back and i kept walking forward until his back was against the door. i smirked and pointed my finger to his face, he scrunched up his face whilst trying not to laugh. 

"you better watch out because i will get you back" i squinted my eyes at him and walked out of his room dripping wet to go jump in the shower.

at the barbeque

SETH'S P.O.V

to be honest i did feel kind of bad for throwing water over eve but she had it coming!

anyway, everyone had arrived at my house for the barbeque, my aunties uncles grandparents, my whole family. and i was currently talking to my great grandma, she was 90!

"my dear seth youre so handsome you know that?" she said holding my face, then she gasped and pointed behind me. 

"eve! my darling!" she shouted over my shoulder. 

eve came walking up to us with her arms outstreched "granny rollins!" she exclaimed giving my great grandma a hug. 

eve stood next to me and nudged me hard in the stomach and i grunted in pain, luckily, my granny didnt see. 

"how are you two then? hows school?" she asked.

we were all talking for a while until my mum called out that the food was ready to be served. as we walked to get food eve turned to me and smiled. "what?" i asked raising my eyebrow.

"oh nothing seth, just watch out, thats all" she smiled again and turned on her heel.

1 hour later

 we had finished eating and all started wandering around mingling again. eve and i were talking to some younger cousins of mine.

"are you two married?" my 4 year old cousin asked making us both laugh, "noo we are only 17 sweetie" eve said "and 18"i added "and besides boys are icky" the girls giggled "ewww yeahh"

"no we are not!" my 6 and 7 year old cousins jack and harry shouted. the girls turned to them and they all started arguing and sticking their tongues out at eachother. 

"oh god what did we start" eve said laughing taking a sip from her drink "um excuse me what did you start? that was all you" she shook her head and smirked. "what?" i asked unsure of what she was going to say or do next.

"i just didnt know you still wet yourself sethiekins" i narrowed my eyes in confusion when suddenly she threw her drink at my crotch. 

"you bitch!" i whisper yelled as she laughed and started to run into the house. 

i ran after her getting alot of weird looks from my relatives "oh seth dear did you have a accident?" my great grandma shook her head laughing. 

i ran into the house where eve had gone and started looking for her "hey i know youre in here ya lil pooface" i heard giggling coming from my bedroom.

 gotcha.

i slowly opened the door and walked into my room when i suddenly felt something jump on my back. 

"attack outta nowhere!" she screamed causing me to laugh. "you are so dead eve woods!"

i grabbed onto her shoulders and flung her off my back onto the bed as she giggled. "stop no you started it this morning!" she said inbetween laughs. 

"but im gonna end it!" i shouted starting to tickle her on the bed. 

"no stop stop i will kick you in the face im not joking" she said sitting up giving me evil eyes. i put my hands up in surrender. "okay okay" i breathed heavily collapsing on the bed next to eve.

out of breath i turned my head, now facing eve i sighed "we've known eachother our whole lives" she nodded and smiled laying on her side resting her head on her hand.

"im 18 eve, 18, we are getting older, like we are close adulthood" i said in the complete darkness of the room. 

"you make it sound like our lives are almost over" she laughed.

i turned onto my side so we were now face to face. "im so glad youre in my life eve, you really are my best friend and every time i see you im just so happy, man i wished you lived here" i breathed out.

"i know i wish i did too, and thank you sethiekins you are the best" she said rolling over giving me a hug, my stomach erupted into butterflies. i stroked her hair and she snuggled into my chest, this was perfect.

"seth?" eve asked looking up at me, "yeah?" i answered.

she looked at my lips and started to lean in, i freaked out, we were gonna kiss, me and eve???

was this the right thing to do? would this ruin our friendship. all of these questions rushed through my head, never the less i lent in aswell. 

the next moment our lips barely touched, i could feel her hot breath on my lips making them tingle. i pulled her in deepening the kiss. one of my hands was on her back and the other on her face.

when we pulled away we didnt talk, eve just rested her head back onto my chest and we remained silent. that was amazing, i have never felt more content and alive, huh, weird.

there was a knock at my door, eve and i shot up sitting on the bed.

"we are serving the cake now kids!" eves mom shouted from the other side of the door. 

"okay mum thanks!" eve shouted whilst getting up.

as i stood up she instantly hugged me, ofcourse i hugged her back and as we pulled away she smiled showing off her chubby cheeks. 

little did i know this was the last time i would see eve for a long time.
