BN - 01 - Hired Fighter

The years is 20XX, everyone and everything is connected through the network. Most people have Personal Terminals(PETs) that houses a, often customized, Network Navigator(NetNavi) of their own, which they use to do many things like connecting with the network, perform some tasks, help with work or studies, bust viruses or partake in Net Battles.

This story begins at the Xavier Laboratories. Logan Howlett has just been hired after quite some time of job hunting and a bit of help from his best buddy Hank McCoy who gave a bit of a good word about him at a recommendation.

"I can hear the casing of the PET creaking with how tight you're holding me. Is everything OK, bub?"
Said Wolverine.EXE, Logan's NetNavi.

"Hm? Oh! Yeah... I'm fine, just a bit nervous. Its nice of Hank to get a word in for me but I'm second guessing if I belong here... It feels... Off..."
Logan says while he head to one of the couches of the lobby.

"Just stick to our plan of what we said we'd be here for. Helping make virus busting more efficient without hindering all the other stuff we NetNavis can do. Besides, we make quite a team on virus busting. They gotta listen to us."

"We are starters here so don't push it too much OK? And we can't start till we know where we are supposed to stay at."

"Oh, right. Hank was supposed to show us around. Where is he?"

"Logan!"
A familiar voice is heard, followed by the steps of the friend that made this meeting up.

"Guess he found us. What's up, Hank?"

"Now that you're here, its going great! C'mon, let me show you around."
He starts walking, followed by Logan.

"You're quite excited for this, arentcha? Also, you're the late one here."

"Heheh... Sorry, lost a bit of the track of time. Its not always when a dear friend comes by, let alone become a colleague. Besides, its way better than talking with each other online when our NetNavis meet."
He says, almost power walking in excitement, followed by the new hire.

"We are almost done and getting to our workplace in time."

"Say... Why is this place called Xavier Labs anyways?"

"Oh... Well, it started as a branch of the one in ACDC Town, but also some sort of partnership with the Cyber City one. The head of the place, Charles Xavier was taking care of everything so well. He though of so many ways both Labs' staff could work together to make great things, but ironically he started feeling ill, leading to discovering something was wrong in his brain, and he didn't have much time till his expected death. He haven't gotten to see the big projects he was leading till the end, which were wonderfully crafted by the staff and his guidance. So when everything was finalized, they decided to name the place in his honor, having the second in command take charge from then on."

"Oh... They must've been quite shaken up by this..."

"Yeah. I arrived here after the change so I personally didn't have any attachment to him. And from what those who did say, things are still going as he idealized."
