Chapter 1

I've never actually belonged anywhere.

Not in Spain, where I only stayed two years, it was actually pretty nice, until, funny enough my mother died and my father went to prison.

Neither in France, where the halls of Beauxbatons felt colder than they should've, full of fake plastic perfect girls who seemed to know everything and glide through life like they had all the answers.

And definitely not here. London, where even the sky is gray. Where my house feels more like a cage than a home.

There's something about this place, though. It's in the way my uncles eyes flicker when he thinks I'm not watching. In the way my aunt looks at me and then whispers into my cousins ear. In the way that even the air is heavier, like if even the city itself was hiding something from me. I can't help feeling like there's something I should know. Something everybody knows, but nobody wants to tell me.

Three days. I've only been here for three days, even though it feels like a whole lifetime. London is nice, I like the city. I have been here before, when I was three, actually, I moved in with my stepfamily. The Malfoys.

You might think that, as they are my actual family somehow, they love me a little. Ha. I wish. Even though I'm a Black, they absolutely despise me. I think it is 'cause of my father. But I can't even recall his face, how could I recall his ideas?

My uncle and stepfather was the devil himself, always finding a way to make my day miserable. Well, "my day", more like "my life". Now that i think about it, maybe I did was better off in France.

I didn't really like France, I don't think I'll miss it. I didn't like my school, Beauxbatons, everyone was just so fake. I didn't want to go there in the first place.

When I turned eleven I got some letters from different schools. My parents both went to Hogwarts, so I wanted to go there. Instead my uncle and aunt decided Beauxbatons was a better option.

Spoiler: the fuck it was not. Like, what do you mean I'm sharing school with a bunch of posh kids obsessed with themselves? I made some friends though. I do will miss them.

I liked Spain, I think. I mean, I was two and had a family, probably my life peak. But... well, nothing lasts forever, I guess. In my case more like "nothing lasts for more than a minute".

After my parents, well, "disappeared from my life", my uncles got my custody, so I moved into their house, and I've been living there ever since.

The house is big, huge actually. I like the house, I just don't like the people who live inside it. Even though it is enormous, there is not a single room that feels like home. It feels cold, if that makes sense. Empty, like if we just were ghosts inside a haunted castle. It somehow makes me feel insignificant.

My family is weird, but not in a cool way. My uncle, Lucius Malfoy, seems to be just an egocentric and narcissistic jerk who doesn't care about anyone else but himself. I think he definitely hates me. I really don't give a fuck, I hate him too.

My aunt, Narcissa Malfoy, and my cousin, Draco Malfoy, are just pieces of his own creepy little chess game. I think they are actually good people trapped inside my uncle's prison. I fear that if I stay here for too long I may end up being in his jail as well.

Tomorrow, I will start my new school. Hogwarts. Sounds good, doesn't it? I hope people there aren't all like my family is. Both my parents studied there, so maybe I can finally learn something about them. For now, all I really know is their names: Sirius Black and Helena Rosier.

I'm laying on my bed, looking at the night sky through the window. I like the stars. I don't know much about them though. Both my names come from astronomy, but I'm more of an astrology person. I'm a scorpio: mysterious, loyal and observant.

I keep on looking at the sky, full moon, werewolves are out. The stars are stunning tonight, hopefully thats a sign of me having a great time tomorrow. I hear someone coming to my room and knocking the door.

—Hello, Giennah. Can we talk? —I hear a boys voice say throughout the door. It's Draco. My new family calls me Giennah even though I told them that I go by Ain.

—Yeah, come in, what happend? —I say right before he opens the door.

He comes inside my room and looks at me, I sit down on my bed and look at the spot next to me encouraging him to come and sit there.

—Are you nervous about tomorrow? —He asks while sitting down, he is about to start his third year at the school.

—A little bit, is there anything I should know before starting? —I really need to know something about the school, I can't just walk in like I knew exactly what I'm supposed to do when I don't.

—Well, the school is huge, you will probably get lost the first days, or weeks. If I were you, I'd probably just follow someone of my same age and house, that way it would be easier. —He explains nicely.

I've realized that, when he's not with his father, he is actually really nice. It's so sad that he has to pretend to be someone he isn't just to make his father proud and he doesn't even care about him.

—Wait, house? Like home? What do you mean?—I ask, no one told me about any house thing.

—Nobody told you anything about it?—I shake my head—Oh, I see, well, basically, before you start your classes, you will be sorted into one house, there are four of them: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and, the best one, Slytherin.—He explained.

—Alright, and which is mine?—I ask.

—You don't know yet, nobody does. When you get into the school the Sorting Hat will decide depending on your own personality.—He tells me—Oh, and, unless you want to have a problem with father, you should end up in Slytherin.

—What if I end up in any other house?—I ask kind of scared.

—Oh, he will not be happy about it.—He answers.

—Alright, so, Slytherin, sounds good. Are you in that house?— I ask him.

—Yes, and, hopefully, you also will.

—Are you nervous about your third year?

—A little bit, I don't really have any friends. I have two of them, and they're more like bodyguards.—He says and I laugh.

—That's sad, isn't it?

—No, it's fine. Last year a new girl came to the school, and I think we are something similar to friends. She's kind.

—Wow, it seems like you really like her, it's the first time you compliment someone.—I tell him trying to bother him.

—No, I don't! I just like... spending time with her!— He says madly.

—Alright, Mr. Denial, we'll see.—I say jokingly.

—It's late, I should go to bed, and you also should. It was nice talking with you. Good luck on your first day.—He says with a smile on his face, I think it might be one of the first times I've seen him smile.

—Good luck for you as well, good night.—I really mean it, hopefully he'll make some new friends.

I watch as he walks away and closes the door carefully. I get in the bed and look at the sky one more time right before I fall asleep.
