Fidelity's eyes widened. "That sounds like it could be what the note was referring to. We should definitely investigate this ceremony."

Ava nodded. "Yes, but we'll need to be cautious. If it's as secretive as it sounds, we should prepare for anything."

Fidelity and Ava left the library, determined to uncover more about the moonlit ceremony and any potential hidden paths it might reveal. With night and the full moon approaching, they knew they had to act quickly to solve the mystery before it was too late.

That evening, Fidelity and Ava gathered their belongings and made their way to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, the sky overhead already deepening into twilight. The forest loomed ahead, its dense shadows and towering trees exuding an air of mystery and danger. Despite the nerves buzzing in her stomach, Fidelity couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her. This felt like an adventure straight out of one of her favorite books, but this time, she wasn't sure she wanted to be the protagonist.

"Are you sure we're doing the right thing? What if we're wrong? What if this isn't what the note was referring to?" Fidelity asked, glancing around warily as they approached the treeline. The forest wasn't a place students ventured into lightly, especially after dark.

Ava paused, turning to face her. "But what if it is? We can't just ignore it, Fidi. If the ceremony is happening tonight, we might not get another chance."

Fidelity bit her lip, glancing into the dark forest. Every instinct told her to turn back, but the urgency of the note echoed in her mind: "...before it's too late..." Taking a deep breath, she nodded. "You're right. We have to at least try."

With that, Ava led the way into the forest, and Fidelity followed, her heart pounding. The thick canopy above blocked out much of the remaining light, casting the forest floor into an eerie darkness. As they ventured further, the usual sounds of the castle faded, replaced by the rustling of leaves and the occasional distant hoot of an owl.

Fidelity held her wand aloft, casting a soft glow that illuminated their path, but it did little to ease the tension knotting in her stomach. They walked in silence, each step filled with trepidation as they moved deeper into the forest. Time seemed to stretch, the minutes slipping by unnoticed until finally, they heard something—a soft, rhythmic rustling in the distance, almost like the sound of footsteps.

Ava grabbed Fidelity's arm, her eyes wide. "Do you hear that?"

Fidelity nodded, her pulse quickening. "That must be it... the ceremony."

They crept closer to the sound, careful to stay hidden in the shadows. As they neared a small clearing, the rustling grew louder, and the girls peered through the underbrush. In the center of the clearing, under the light of the full moon, a group of mooncalves danced in a graceful, synchronized pattern. Their silvery coats gleamed in the moonlight as they moved, their large, luminous eyes reflecting the light like tiny mirrors.

The sight was mesmerizing, and for a moment, Fidelity forgot her fear. She watched in awe as the mooncalves twirled and leaped, their movements creating a strange and magical rhythm that seemed to resonate with the very air around them.

"It's beautiful," Ava whispered, her voice filled with wonder.

Fidelity nodded, but the unease lingered. "It is... but why would the note lead us here? What's the connection?"

As they watched, the mooncalves began to gather in a circle, their dance slowing until they stood perfectly still, their heads tilted upward as if waiting for something. The moon, now fully risen, bathed the clearing in a silvery light, casting long shadows that danced around the creatures.
