I first came up with this idea when I was reading those memes about the Barnes & Noble funny summaries of manga series. I realized that since most of the demons were symbols that would sexually assault or rape their female victims before or after killing them, Demon Slayers could be summarized as a bunch of teens and young adults running around at night with swords hunting down rapist and pedophiles that their family members were victims of. I was inspired to write this down cause one of my favorite modern cop Demon Slayer AU got canceled because the author couldn't think of any crimes for them to solve without taking away from the plot of the romance. I think these AUs would be a good way to amend that problem.
All the characters would be aged up to be over 18. I have two modern AU ideas:
1. The Demon Slayer Corpses is a gang of troubled young adults and adults that illegally hunt down either turning in or killing the pedophiles, rapes, and murders that had harmed their family members. NO demons or superpowers, just a bunch of vigilantes hunting down real-life villains. This gang would span most of Japan and would be funded by the Ubuyashiki family.
2. The Ubuyashiki family runs a private police agency that specializes in investigating, arresting, and prosecuting pedophiles, rapes, and murders. For most of the members, their work is personal, as the men and women who hurt their loved ones are still at large.
The next few chapters will cover how I imagine the characters' roles, personalities, and backstories in each AU. It will be a bit vague, so it can be used in different ways.
