GOD MUST BE PLAYING SOME kind of sick joke on you. That's the only explanation for this... right? But to understand exactly how cruel this situation truly was, we need to go back to the beginning.
When you had heard your school was doing its decennial exchange event with a sort of nearby school, you didn't really care. You didn't have any interest in becoming a transfer student, your current school was just fine. The faculty even supplied you with transformation potions to keep you human, so you were more than comfortable.
To your dismay, the news came out: everyone in the school was forced to enter the running to decide who the new exchange student would be. Which included you.
You prayed to whatever god could be listening that it wasn't you, as your life had finally been calm while being a student at Noble Bell College. You even had friends — well, one friend.
Esmée was the only reason you even applied to Noble Bell. She was the one who had helped you out of a bad situation at home, and she begged you to go to school with her; so you did. And if you got chosen for this stupid exchange event and had to leave her for a whole year, you might light the whole place on fire.
The day of the event, and the unveiling of the chosen transfer student was a normal Friday afternoon. After school, you walked through Fleur City where you saw a lot more people than usual, and a lot obviously not local. Then, you saw people around your age strolling through town in school uniforms that you could easily recognize as Night Raven College's signature uniform.
You could really only tell since they were all the same basic clothing, with differentiating colors according to their dorms; something Nobel Bell didn't have.
And with that realization, you remembered that today was the very day of the exchange event. Fantastic.
You grabbed your phone and opened a message Esmée had sent you.
esmée: where are you? everyone is here but you
you: am i allowed to stay home?
esmée: no. get over here.
You liked the message and made your way back to school; right after leaving no less than 45 minutes ago. You knew that the event was held outside the school in the courtyard, and wondered how all these people would fit in that space anyway.
