Like I said in the description of this book, I know there are several Hero Dabi AUs out there, but I decided I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and put forth some ideas for a take of my own, so here we are!

Obviously, this is canon-divergent. One can gather as much from the title. While it is canon-divergent, I will still say that many things that pop up throughout this AU are going to spoil many points in the series, so if you haven't watched or read My Hero Academia and don't want to be spoiled, I suggest you do so before reading any of my works for this AU.

Spoiler warnings apply throughout the whole book. If you don't want spoilers of any sort, feel free to back out here. You have been warned.

Also, this book contains mentions of abuse, neglect, and trauma. If that makes you uncomfortable, then please be mindful of your limits and do not read on. Take care of yourself, please! :)

Now, with that out of the way, let's continue.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This AU, as it does feature Dabi, centers around Touya Todoroki and the rest of his family.

 Well, sort of.

The story of the Todoroki family remains much the same;

Enji Todoroki aka Endeavour wants a successor with a powerful fire quirk like his own, but without the drawbacks of Hellflame so that they can succeed where he's failed and surpass All Might, Japan's current Number One Hero, and as such, seeks out Rei Himura so that he can create children in the hopes that he can find such a successor.

With that, Touya Todoroki is born, as is Fuyumi Todoroki. Endeavour trains Touya -who manifested a fire quirk that has the potential to surpass even his in strength- to be his successor, while Fuyumi, who manifested a simple frost quirk like her mother's, remains a pillar of love and support for her big brother.

Soon enough, Enji and Rei find Touya's quirk to be incompatible with his body. While their son manifested a fire quirk like his father, he inherited his mother's constitution, being made to endure the freezing temperatures of the frost quirk rather than the scorching temperatures of Hellflame, and were instructed to prohibit Touya from using his quirk as much as possible.

Little Touya was then pushed aside by his father, who began to try again for another successor, giving the Todoroki siblings a younger brother in the form of little Natsuo.

Touya was deeply distressed by his father's neglect, as he had tried to follow his every order so that he could fulfill his purpose and become the hero who would surpass the Symbol of Peace, but no matter what he did or said, his desperate pleas for his father to look at him and acknowledge his power was in vain, further sending the young boy spiralling into a bitter, manic rage.

Natsuo manifested a frost quirk like his mother and sister and was promptly tossed aside like his older siblings as Enji demanded another child.

This is how the fourth and final child is born.

Shoto Todoroki.

Shoto was born a rarity even among those in their superhuman society, possessing two quirks in the form of Half-Cold-Half-Hot. A perfect mixture of fire and ice.

Enji had his successor, and all hell broke loose.

While Touya had become somewhat close with his siblings, especially his little brother Natsuo, he didn't share this feeling toward his new baby brother, Shoto. Shoto was the reason their father wouldn't acknowledge him. If he hadn't been born, he might've had a chance to regain their father's favour.
