The little boy and the firefly
I once heard a story of a little boy and a firefly and this is how it goes
There once was a baby firefly
struggling to flap its wings across the sky
one day a little boy saw her and said
"let me help you" relating to the fact that both have similar problems
he took the firefly on his shoulder and spread his arms wide open and ran as fast as he could.
satisfied of the flying and achieving what she wanted (to fly) she told the boy she would give him whatever he wanted.
the boy asked for the girl whom he loved to love him back.
the firefly did exactly that and realised she had fallen for him.
but she couldn't break her promise now she had to give him what he wanted.
but little did he know ,her light was fading...
she was overusing her power and light to keep him happy.
the boy was devastated as he realised that he loved her but it was too late.
she was dying but before dying, she told him that she will return as a human one day and they'll both live happily .
the boy waited and waited ...
He waited 20 years .
he became a veterinarian and one day a girl with a dog entered his clinic.
she asked him, "whats your favourite animal?"
he replied , "firefly."
she said , "I thought you forgot about me."
and they lived happily ever after.
or so i thought.
there was no happy ending
the firefly died and the boy saw only saw her in his hallucinations
she was never going to come back
and he lived in misery
the happy ending was a lie.
it was fake.
and once lived a miserable boy waiting for his firefly.
