The wrong room

Kate, a rising actress who was slowly climbing the ladder of fame, wasn’t a stranger to doing whatever it took to secure opportunities. When two major chances came to her at once  one at a high-end club, the other at the luxurious Eagles Hotel
she couldn’t afford to lose either.

But she could only be in one place.

So, she turned to the only person she trusted: Luna.

“Luna, please… can’t you do me this favour?” Kate pleaded, her eyes desperate.

Luna hesitated. “I can’t, Kate. It’s dangerous to be in a hotel room with a man you don’t know. You never really know what could happen.”

Kate pressed on. “You know I helped you when you ran away from your adoptive parents, when they tried to marry you off. I gave you a place to stay.”

Luna sighed deeply. She hated this. The idea. The setup. But loyalty ran deep.

“Fine,” she whispered. “Just this once.”

Luna filled in Kate’s name and age on the hotel check-in form as instructed. The receptionist handed her the key: Room 206.
On the 15th floor, Luna walked the hallway slowly. She passed rooms 204, 205… then 207. Right beside it was 206 and strangely, across from it, another door also labeled 206.

She paused. “Two room 206s?”

Unsure, she chose the one beside 207. The door creaked open without needing the key. Strange… but she brushed it off.

“The cleaners must have forgotten to lock it.”she  concluded

Inside, the room was dark. She fumbled for the light switch, couldn’t find it, and used her phone flashlight instead. No one was there.

She smirked thinking Mr John must be on his way.

Confident that he’d go to the other 206 if this one was locked, she locked the door behind her, turned off her flashlight, and slowly moved to the bed. She sat down, kicked off her sandals, and lay back under the duvet.

A moment passed.

And then, a hand slid around her waist.

Luna froze.

Someone was already in the bed.

Before she could move, he pulled her closer, his breath brushing against her skin.

“You smell nice,” the voice whispered  low, hoarse, and strangely soothing.

Luna’s heart thundered in her chest. She tried to move, but the warmth, the safety of the hold, and the calmness in his voice made her pause. It didn’t feel threatening  just unexpected.

Still, something was off.
And then it hit her like cold water:
She had entered the wrong room.

The first light of dawn crept into the room.

Luna sat up quickly, confusion still heavy in her mind. Her heart ached with guilt, fear, and uncertainty. She gathered her scattered clothes, dressed quietly, and grabbed her bag.

She didn’t dare look at the man still asleep.

She slipped out of the room silently, the hallway now quiet and cold. The door closed behind her with a soft click, but the sound echoed in her chest like thunder.

“What have I done?” she whispered to herself, walking away from a night that would change everything though she didn’t yet know how.
