Chapter 14: Thunderclap And Flash

Shocked, the spider demon continued to stare at him surprised that despite this kids' obvious fear, he still wouldn't accept his fate like so many have in the past. 'What's wrong with this guy? He's a strange one.'

"Zenitsu look out!" Kirishima shouted as he threw another spider that was getting close to the boy a few feet away. Glancing sideways at Kaminari, Kirishima saw he was also having a hard time trying to keep the growing number of spiders at bay with a branch nearby he had found given that they had no weapons at their disposal. "Kaminari use your quirk!"

"I can't!" he shouted back after swinging the branch like a bat and successfully hitting one of the spiders. "If I try I could fry you guys and there's no telling what'll happen with the others, remember?!"

"Damn it." Gritting his teeth, Kirishima knew they were running out of options and right now they were on the losing end. They had to try and find a way to get up towards the demon spider, maybe that'll be the only way to end this. "Zenitsu, you still with us man?!" Kirishima shouted but froze when he saw him staring with shocked wide eyes at his hands. "Zenitsu?"

Terrified Zenitsu grabbed another fist full of hair Zenitsu. 'My hairs falling out already?' It was then that his eyes rolled into the back of his head as everything turned black.

"Zenitsu!" They both shouted with Kirishima quickly trying to catch him from falling.

"Huh?" Tilting his head, the demon spider continued to watch the scene unfold in front of him. 'I don't understand this guy at all. Isn't he a demon slayer who came here to kill our family? But he fainted. How spineless can you get? He's going to fall on his head and die. What the hell?' Disappointingly frowning he found it oddly surprising that he couldn't look away from all this absurdity.

Whirling his head sideways Kaminari's eyes slowly widened when he felt the familiar charge of static energy suddenly surround them barely having enough time to shout at the red head. "Kirishima get back!"

Calmly breathing in through his nose an unconscious Zenitsu began clutching his sword as the electricity around him began to intensify. "Thunder breathing, first form..."

As they continued walking through the trees along the river, a sharp CRACK shook through the air immediately engulfing the night sky in a brief flash of lightning making all three boys suddenly stop.

"Did lightning just strike?" Tanjiro swiftly turned to where he thought he had heard it. 'I'm not smelling any thundercloud though.' He thought.

Narrowing his eyes Bakugo could only hope that Kaminari and Kirishima were alright. If that wasn't any indication that they were here and alive, he didn't know what was.

"I think I'm going to head that way." Tanjiro pointed in the direction he heard the noise coming from.

"Go ahead and do whatever you want." Inosuke huffed as he continued trying to skip through rocks.

"Are you descending?"

"Huh?"

"Are you going back down the mountain?"

"Why would I do that?!" he snapped before turning to see Bakugo already walking off in the direction they had came from. "And where does he think he's going?!"

"Bakugo?" Tanjiro saw him momentarily stop as he spoke over his shoulder.

"I'm going back to check on the others. For all we know there could be a few injured or worse."

"You're friends." Tanjiro concluded, understanding that he would do the same if he could. "I understand the need to want to keep everyone from harm. But unless we defeat all the demons first there's no telling what more could happen."
