Cursed?

Chapter 1

I look around my room for a final check before heading to school. Bag? Check. Notebooks and pens? Check. A snack? Check.

I grab my bag and head towards my new future, my first day at U.A. High. The school was about an hour's walk away from my house, so I naturally took the train. As I board the train I grabbed one of the handles from above. I look around at the different uniforms on the train, as I am observing one uniform catches my eye. Another U.A. student is standing 10 feet away from me. I look away but not before I lock eyes with them.

Taking my look as an invite to come and chat, the young woman walks over and stands next to me, looking slightly down to meet my gaze. Her face is extremely bright, yet friendly A huge smile dawns on her face. Her skin was a soft pink with her hair just a shade darker. Atop her head were two small yellow horns that made her look alien-like. Her eyes were black with her iris being yellow, almost cat-like. She looks nice and sweet, I think to myself as she begins talking.

"Hi, my name is Mina! Are you also going to U.A.? What class are you in?" I begin to open my mouth only to be interrupted "I am actually in class 1A in the hero course!..." she continues to chat and before I know it we have arrived at our stop. We both exit the train and begin the short walk up to the entrance.

It feels so surreal walking into the entrance. We find our classroom and we both walk in. "OMG I didn't your number, what is it?" Mina asks apologetically "It's XXX-XXX-XXXX just put Y/n in as the contact." Mina smiles and thanks you. We make small talk as more people fill the room. Mina and I decide to split ways and head over to our desks to greet the people next to us.

I take a seat next to a boy who is silently looking at his phone. His hair is half white and half red, his bangs fall onto his face as he looks down. That's a huge scar, I note to myself in my head. His face is slim with his eyes being two different colors. A rich dark brown with hints of yellow and green with eye cold blue eyes that send a shiver down your soul.

I guess he noticed the stares and looked up to meet my eyes. He looks me up and down and gives a little nod. I offer a shy smile with a little wave that accompanies it. "What is your name" The boy asks with a monotone expression "I'm Y/n, what's yours?". He glances towards his shoes before returning his gaze towards me " I am Todoroki " he says very bluntly.

Our attention gets drawn to the front of the class as the door opens and a green-haired person enters. People mutter about him getting the highest score on the entrance exam. I guess I was just not in the loop about this. Eventually, a yellow worm wiggles into the room causing the room to become quiet. A scraggy man crawls out of the bag.

The scraggy man explains himself to be our teacher, Shota Aizawa. He explains that we are going to be assessed to see our strength levels. He hands out the gym uniforms and instructs us to change.

We all meet outside after changing, waiting for the rest of the people to show up. Aizawa explains the first test which is throwing a baseball as far as we can but with our quirks. The first guy who went named Bakugo went, screaming die as he threw the ball. He has got some serious problems, I think to myself.

Eventually, it was my turn. I walk up and take the ball from my teacher. I take the ball and apply my quirk to it. It morphs the ball backward and it slings shots forward until I cannot make the distance out. The machine next to me rings out 751 meters. Aizawa writes the score down and I walk back and join the rest of the class.

My quirk is a manipulation of matter. I can apply some of my energy to an object to create kinetic energy. If I put enough energy into an object I can manipulate the state of the object. For example, if I were the stand on a road and apply energy to the ground I could cause it to morph into a wall.

We finally finished the testing and I placed average around the middle as my quirk didn't do much to help me. The green-haired boy ended up placing last so that was kind of funny. We change and get back to our classroom as our next class begins, which is English.

Our class ends and lunch begins. Class 1-A walks down to the lunch room, grabbing some lunch I take a seat at the table Mina is at. The other people who I learned are Kaminari, Bakugo, Kirishima, and Jiro primarily chat while I listen.

"So what's up with that Midoriya guy?"Kirishima asks while taking a bite. "Tch, that damn nerd..." Bakugo mutters. "Oh I didn't release you knew him Bakugo?" Mina asks confused "KNOW HIM? HA! I KNOW THAT QUIRKLESS NOBODY!" We all look at him confused. "Bro has got a quirk" Kaminari states "Yeah we all saw him during the assessment?" Jiro adds. Bakugo glares at them then looks down and begins to aggressively eat his food.

We end up doing all the core subjects throughout the day after lunch and eventually, the end of the day comes. I pack my bag up and put my homework away into the bag. Homework on the first day sucks, I think to myself as I walk out of the room.

A hand grabs my arm as I'm walking through the hallway. I quickly turn around surprised at the sudden contact. I look up to meet a pair of blue and brown eyes, complementing his hair. My face flushes slightly "Hi?" I say with confusion lacing my voice. "I want to walk with you if that's ok..." Todoroki says leading off at the end. I give a small smile and nod "Oh yeah that's fine" His hand still lingers on my arm, he notices at the same time as me and lets go. His cheeks ever so slightly get a dust of red.

We walk to the entrance after we change our shoes and start walking out the gate in comfortable silence. "How was your day?" He asks me breaking the silence between us " It was good, to be honest, a little long" I say chuckling at the end "How was yours?". He looks up towards the sky "It was fine, kind of boring though" I nod "Yeah". "Do you live around here?" Todoroki asks, looking back at me softly "No I actually don't, I live an hour away" I say as his eyes widen "Huh cool" Ok wow he's awkward, I think to myself as we keep walking.

Todoroki tries to keep a conversation, but I mostly keep it up. He becomes more relaxed as we continue talking, eventually, I ask him the thought that has been lingering on my mind. "Hey, could I ask you a question?" "Mhmm yeah," Todoroki looks at me expectantly.

" Why did you ask to walk with me today?" He looks surprised at the question and looks down the ground "I think you're cool." He says with a small smile and a tint to his cheeks, I blush at his response. He looks over to me, and his smile gets wider "Why did you say yes?" "Well, why would I want to say no to you?" I retort with a cheeky smile. He looks away in response, not quick enough so that I don't see his face grow redder.

We eventually make it to the train stop where we exchange numbers. " You know you didn't have to walk me this far," I say with a slight smirk, he gives a small smirk in response " I know". The train doors open as I step inside. We wave to one another as the doors close and the train begins to take off. I grab a handle and look to the ground, smiling to myself.

I unlock the door and walk into my home. Taking off my shoes I walk into the kitchen to greet my Mom. "Hi Mama, what are you cooking?" She looks at me with a smile "I'm making some curry, wanna taste?" She offers the spoon out to me and I gladly take a bite. "It's so delicious!" I say closing my eyes and holding my cheek.

My Dad gets home and we all eat dinner. I walk to my room and finish my homework as I get two dings on my phone. I push my chair out and walk over to my bed to grab my phone. One is from Mina and the other is from Todoroki. Mina's text is just about the homework and some gossip.

Todoroki asks me what time I get to the bus stop. "Why does he want to know?" I mutter to myself as I type a response. 'I get there around 7:30 why?' I don't have to wait for a response as he instantly replies 'I will meet you there'.
